Seemed to click with today's conditional rider when springing 66/1 shock at Sedgefield in May. Rested since then and only 3lb higher so interesting to see how the combination fare at this very different track.

Fair handicapper on Flat at up to 1m4f and joined current yard for 32,000 guineas in the autumn. Creditable efforts on two of three starts to date in novice hurdles and makes handicap bow off feasible mark against older horses.

Won this race 12 months ago off 15lb lower mark and scored at Hexham off 5lb lower mark last autumn. Fair enough efforts in two C&D outings since long break and not out of it despite the handicapper's attention.

Won Sedgefield handicap hurdle in November off 4lb lower mark. has gradually eased back down the weights and failed by just a length off 1lb lower mark at Ffos Las last time. Shouldn't be far away.

Inconsistent performer but has shown flashes of ability at this level, including when third on penultimate start over C&D in May, but pulled up here last time and has something to prove.

Fine yard has 16% strike rate here over the years with its hurdlers. Previous C&D winner who has run respectably last two starts , both at this venue. 1lb higher than when second here recently and handicapper taken no chances.

10-race maiden who has run very poorly in two outings since joining current yard in December. Had bits and pieces of moderate form prior to that but looks in the doldrums at present.

Poor form until improved effort here over 2m4f in May when weakened from last. Fair second in Flat staying handicap at Downpatrick latest and drop back to this trip should help. Has fair claims.

Frightened Rabbit11
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-10| J: Danny McMenamin(5)| T: Mrs Dianne Sayer| OR:  87| D
6/5
Landed third career win and first for over two years when making all the running to score at Hexham last time out. Runs off same mark and has gone well here in past so may not be far away in current form.

Forecasts

Frightened Rabbit (6/5), Outcrop (6/1), Strong Team (13/2), Wot A Shot (7/1), Golden Town (10/1), Blooriedotcom (14/1), Santa Anna (18/1), Kennedys Field (20/1), Zamarkhan (33/1)

Verdict

A tricky heat in which a number of runners have chances. FRIGHTENED RABBIT put up a much improved effort to lead all the way at Hexham recently and runs off the same mark. Getting weight all round he has as good a chance as any. Blooriedotcom is the potential improver on handicap debut and rates a big danger, while last year's winner Strong Team shouldn't be far away either in his repeat bid off a much higher mark. Golden Town bids to follow up his shock Sedgefield win, and Outcrop has a squeak as well.
  1. Frightened Rabbit
  2. Blooriedotcom
  3. Outcrop
