Seemed to have little idea of what was required of him at Worcester on debut last month, but was getting the hang of it late and stayed on well enough. Different ground conditions to cope with here, but should improve.

Bred to be a star on Flat but never lived up to his billing for Aidan O'Brien. Joined current yard in March and has shown precious little in four starts over hurdles so far. Hard to enthuse over.

Placed four times in bumpers and in both hurdle starts at Warwick (second of 12) and Fakenham (third of five). Top rated performer of the three with official handicaps and anything but a bold bid would be a surprise.

Modest Flat performer given a rating of 102 after fair third and remote fourth to date over timber. That gives him 15lb to make up with Gateway To Europe.

Pulled up in lone point-to-point and tailed off last her on rules debut. No enthusiasm at present.

Shade disappointing in debut in a bumper in April and similar struggles here over hurdles last time. Well related but looks stable second string and perhaps one for further down the line.
Won a 3m Irish maiden point (by 2L) in April 2018; subsequently bought for £27,000; finished a distant fifth of six (25/1) on rules/hurdles debut here before 10L third at Market Rasen latest. Place claims.

Gained a Flat rating of 72 when winning his final race for Andrew Balding at Southwell last November. Market can guide on hurdles bow after seven months off.

Newcomer by Shirocco out of a decent mare over hurdles and fences but whose first progeny was very ordinary. Best watched here.

Southwell third last time out a step up on earlier finishing positions although not necessarily form having been beaten 36L. Makes little appeal today.

Forecasts

Gateway To Europe (5/6), Bold Record (2/1), The Swagman (11/4), Apres Le Deluge (3/1), Royal Reel (14/1), Kabrit (14/1), The Chipper (14/1), My Mums Posh (20/1), The Cattlejobber (20/1), Hediddodinthe (20/1), Pinot Noir (50/1), Claudio Monteverdi (50/1)

Verdict

Although his principle rival Gateway To Europe is officially rated 3lb higher APRES LE DELUGE gets the nod as he proved this 114 rating is genuine when second in handicap company last time out. There is very little between he and Gateway To Europe however but the two of them on form have plenty in hand on the rest. If there is to be a fly in the ointment it will likely be Nicky Henderson's once raced Bold Record who was novicey over his hurdles and green on debut; expect better now.
