Age: 8|  Weight: 11-12| J: Max Kendrick(5)| T: Jamie Snowden| OR:  142| DWS
12/1
Useful chaser who has made hay over hurdles since the first of his two wind ops (returns from the second here). Simple tasks when winning his three novice hurdles (found out in a handicap last time); back chasing off what looks a decent mark.

Princeton Royaleb71
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-12| J: Jonjo O'Neill Jr.(3)| T: N B King| OR:  142| CD
4/1
Front-running chaser who returned from a break in a visor to produce a career-best over fences at Ascot (got into a good rhythm; seen to maximum effect). Ran just as well in defeat last time at Haydock; gets on well with today's rider.

Get Out The Gate21
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-11| J: Callum Bewley| T: J S Goldie| OR:  141
6/1
Hard to fault the start of his chasing career with two novice wins showing him in a good light; tough task switched to handicaps last time off top weight. Still plenty of time for him to progress (jumps soundly); not ruled out of this at all.

Age: 6|  Weight: 11-8| J: R P McLernon| T: B Haslam| OR:  138| C
7/1
Trainer does well rejuvenating this owners' runners from other trainers; worked the oracle with this one to win over 2m1f here last time (took advantage of drop in the weights/first-time cheekpieces). Has to prove stamina now up 9lb for that win.

Lofgrent,v116
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-0| J: B S Hughes| T: D McCain Jnr| OR:  130| C
8/1
Won twice last season including here over further (3m2f); edging his way back towards his last winning mark after a respectable run at Aintree last time. New headgear combination now tried (he's used a few) to eke out some further evolution.

Beau Sancyp,t35
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-10| J: G Sheehan| T: O Murphy| OR:  126| D
11/4
Another revitalised by a move to this yard (and a wind op) starting off with a hat-trick straight after joining in low-grade handicaps at up to 2m4f. Returned to win in good style having had another wind op last time, beat subsequent winner 8L.

Quest For Life21
Age: 7|  Weight: 10-6| J: Jamie Hamilton| T: M Walford| OR:  122
9/1
Off the mark over fences at the fourth attempt (race rather fell apart), 2m3f at Sedgefield. The 8lb rise on the back of that dubious effort in a better race found him out last time at Perth; faces at similarly tough task here, others appeal more.

Alderbrook Ladp34
Age: 13|  Weight: 10-0| J: Billy Garritty(7)| T: Micky Hammond| OR:  116| CD
9/1
Course specialist (4-11 over C&D) who is now at the veteran stage of his career. Ran well on his comeback over C&D last time in a race he'd won twice before; loves to make the running (faces pace pressure here); sadly others persuade more.

Play The Aceb,t12
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: James Bowen| T: P & M Bowen| OR:  115| D
16/1
On his day a useful hurdler/chaser but looking to struggle of late (failed to revive in first-time blinkers last time). Ought to have a chance off this mark but doubts about his ability/enthusiasm mean that he's easily passed over in this.

Forecasts

Beau Sancy (11/4), Princeton Royale (4/1), Get Out The Gate (6/1), Demi Sang (7/1), Lofgren (8/1), Quest For Life (9/1), Alderbrook Lad (9/1), Double Treasure (12/1), Play The Ace (16/1)

Verdict

The pace scenario looks ripe for BEAU SANCY to maintain his 4-4 record for this yard over fences on ground that is good or better with no rain forecast. He may be a fragile sort (already had two wind ops with this yard) but his Kelso win last time was impressive (cruised clear; won with plenty in hand). Princeton Royale is a dual C&D winner and was second in this last year (off 4lb lower) he dangerous if allowed to get into a rhythm in front but he’s likely to have pace pressure from the likes of Double Treasure and course specialist Alderbrook Lad. Demi Sang is a threat potentially if he stays this trip having looked reinvigorated of late with Get Out Of The Gate not totally out of this.
  1. Beau Sancy
  2. Princeton Royale
  3. Double Treasure
