Not quite living up to the expectations created by his juvenile form in handicaps this year; cheekpieces now reached for (also gelded). Ran respectably on his only previous starts here (6f); tried over 1m last time, drop back to 7f more suitable.
Only win came on the AW at this trip showing improved form on her seasonal return after nine months off. Lightly raced she now steps into a handicap for the first time having run only modestly back on turf last time; decent mark to work with.
Yet to get off the mark having had four attempts in minor events without looking above average. Switch to handicaps may reveal a little more of his ability (first try on the AW this year); back to 7f having been a beaten favourite over 1m last time.
6f course winner on his only juvenile outing (with Mick Easterby); yet to really show his true worth or comparable form in three starts this year for his new yard (tried over 1m last time). Should appreciate a return to Tapeta, something to prove.
Steps up in grade and onto the AW (should be suited by it) for the first time having shown improved form at Leicester (7f, soft). Benefitted for the return to this trip last time (race set up well for him; cheekpieces on); more to do here though.
Best run may well have come on Tapeta (only AW run so far) but is 0-8 with the handicapper not looking to release his grip with his progress looking to have come to a halt. Two previous handicap starts have come on turf, needs an ease in the weights.
Only win so far came on Tapeta (at Wolverhampton, 6f) as a juvenile (with Richard Fahey). Below form for this yard in handicaps this term (mark fallen 6lb since the start of the year); hopes pinned on a return to Tapeta for a revival.
Some promise in his turf starts this year particularly at Doncaster last time but his juvenile form would indicate he's better on Tapeta. Progressed nicely to win two Wolverhampton nurseries last year; lurks just above last winning mark; shortlisted.
0-6 but not without some ability showing up well enough on handicap debut last time over 7f. Only previous AW try came on the Fibresand (flopped, was well supported); down 3lb but still has some questions to answer to be successful in handicaps.
Starts life with this yard (left Brian Meehan) with what looks to be a tough task having run below form in claiming company last time. Ran poorly in two previous starts in handicaps (headgear both times); makes limited appeal on AW debut.
Holding her form well having scored on her debut last year here and this year at Pontefract (both over 6f), the second time on handicap debut. Two latest runs have confirmed she's capable in this grade; return to 7f to draw out more progress.
One of three that the stable run in this but looks the lesser light returning from a fair absence making his AW/handicap debut. Has shown some promise in his three starts so far (will have a chance in handicaps); first try at 7f, best watched.

Defence Treaty (4/1), Jem Scuttle (4/1), Daring Venture (9/2), Gale Force Maya (6/1), In The Cove (6/1), Edgewood (9/1), Sense of Belonging (12/1), Jack Berry House (14/1), Serengeti Song (14/1), Axe Axelrod (16/1), Firsteen (16/1), Barbarosa (28/1), Puzzle (33/1), Epaulini (66/1)
As with most three-year-old handicaps there are a few in this that are expected to improve further with handicap newcomer Daring Venture one of those having disappointed slightly last time although this move back to a synthetic track may suit her better. Defence Treaty has more to do this time there are a couple of others which should be placed before him in the hierarchy. The first would be Gale Force Maya whose held her form well and this course winner will appreciate this move up to 7f with JEM SCUTTLE the one who interests most. His turf form this year indicates he’s still capable off this mark but it’s the fact that his two best runs have come on Tapeta that make him the selection.
- Jem Scuttle
- Daring Venture
- Gale Force Maya
