Dual hurdles scorer struggled on the whole over fences last season but after a short break latest took a step in the right direction when second of three at Fontwell. Not sure he's well handicapped but hurdles form says he may be.
Made favourite for return at Newton Abbot but finished tailed off so obviously very disappointing. Sure he can do better than that here and with both chase wins on good to firm the faster the ground the better.
Dual hurdles winner beaten 38L into fourth on only previous chase start. Ran on the flat at Royal Ascot without distinction last week. Ought to be competitive here based on hurdles form but aforementioned chase uninspiring.
Won off this mark last October at Kelso but beaten in excess of 50 lengths in both subsequent starts. Likely has his issues based on how little he races these days but if on a going day he ought to go close.
Gained a second chase success in six starts latest when winning a four-runner Stratford comprehensively by 7L. Upped 6lb for that which makes life tougher but with few of his rivals in any sort of form his chance is clear.
Maiden hurdler was third of 12 in a 2m5f Stratford novices handicap a couple of weeks ago and could have gone closer but for several blunders. Jumping and inexperience a concern but has a shout off a feather weight.
Forecasts
Storm Home (13/8), Percy Street (7/2), King Cnut (7/2), Game Line (9/2), New Millennium (8/1), Middlebrow (16/1)
In a race where all of his rivals have a few question marks by far and away the safest bet is recent Stratford winner KING CNUT who aged five and having just his seventh start over fences appears a progressive sort. Storm Home is yet to get his act together over fences but his hurdles form suggests him well treated now. New Millennium must put his latest disappointment behind him but his earlier form is quite appealing.
- King Cnut
- Storm Home
- New Millennium
