Placed in AW handicaps earlier in the year his best run on turf came back in novice company before he ran poorly back at 6f last time returned to handicaps. Needs to get over that run in first-time cheekpieces (now removed) back at 7f (same mark).

Handicap newcomer who showed promise on his course debut (1m) last year; then ran well twice on the AW later in the year over 7f. Has an absence to overcome but handed a realistic task/mark for his first handicap foray; worth noting in the market.

Scored a hat-trick of seconds on her first three outings but has still to go one better and actually win a race. Starting to look exposed now even in handicaps although does have a career-low mark to work with now; one of the lesser chances in this.

Progress has been gradual rather than spectacular but he struck on his second handicap start (on softer ground than previously); won with a little in hand. Has to cope with a quicker surface now but should cope with a 5lb rise; shortlisted.

Failed to convince on her handicap debut at Salisbury although the soft surface (her first encounter with such ground) may have been to blame. Progress prior to that had been steady in novice events so not totally written off on better ground now.

Modest performer whose only win so far came in a Redcar seller after which he was sold to this yard. Has one piece of C&D form off this mark which gives him a chance; not disgraced in a Leicester seller last time, more needed here.

Forecasts

Global Destination (11/10), Just Later (5/1), Valley Belle (5/1), Moveonup (13/2), So Claire (13/2), Miss Elsa (7/1), Tarrzan (20/1)

Verdict

An open affair where the entire field can be given some sort of chance with the vote going to the handicap debutante JUST LATER who showed some promise last year and may well be able to win first time up; any market support would be a bonus. Global Destination would appear to be the main danger although he would appreciate some rain while Valley Belle is considered but she needs all the pieces to fall into place with her win-to-run ratio being poor. So Claire can’t be written off if the ground stays on the quick side her chance being scuppered by the ground at Salisbury last time she looks to be on a competitive mark.
  1. Just Later
  2. Global Destination
  3. Valley Belle
