Far from disgraced in five seasonal starts since April, running well in defeat in a couple of Listed contests and in the 1000 guineas trial at Leopardstown earlier this term. First time cheekpieces can be expected to assist.

Four-race maiden. Earlier progress as a two-year-old appears to have leveled out in a couple of dour seasonal efforts and others look to hold stronger claims.

C&D winner, successful in two of her nine starts on turf, the daughter of Tough As Nails ran with credit on return to action in a Cork 5f handicap earlier this month. Not ruled out and market should be informative.

Three starts this term has produced a couple of solid and consistent displays in defeat at Navan and Cork over similar trips. Appears to have more to offer and very much respected in this contest.

Two wins and two seconds at two for trainer Michael O'Callaghan from seven runs. Caught the eye on fourth start for current connections at the Curragh earlier this month, running on late in the closing stages. Place claims.

Sole career win came on the AW at Dundalk in February, but the Slade Power gelding has continued to hit the frame in a number of encouraging spins on turf since May. Likely to run well once again.

Failed to back up a win on seasonal debut at Down Royal finishing 5½L adrift of Aspen Belle in a Cork 5f handicap earlier this month. Still 6lb higher than last winning mark and may have to settle for a minor role in this contest.

Inexplicably remains a 10-race maiden following a number of solid efforts since last month. Beaten no more than ½L on each of her last three starts the Zebedee gelding can set the record straight here.

Forecasts

Sunset Nova (5/2), Cityman (7/2), Black Martini (7/2), Bailly (5/1), Aloysius Lilius (8/1), Silver Service (11/1), Rainbow Moonstone (12/1), Count D'Orsay (14/1), Evasive Power (20/1), Show Must Go On (25/1)

Verdict

The Andrew Slattery-trained CITYMAN can land his first win on turf at the sixth attempt. The Slade Power gelding has consistently hit the frame in a number of encouraging spins on turf since May and can get the better of stablemate Sunset Nova, second on his last two starts and the Ger Lyons-trained, Bailly another that was second last time out. Aloysius Lilius is back below his last winning mark and deserves consideration in this contest.
  1. Cityman
  2. Sunset Nova
  3. Bailly
