Seventh foal of a dam who won at 1m2f. Closely related to winners over 7f and 1m but now making belated debut.
No promise when well beaten at big odds in trio of maidens last season and will need to show huge improvement on debut for current yard.
Placed twice from four starts in America as a two-year-old. Never really recovered from a tardy start on Irish debut over 1m recently though two of the first three home have won since.
Showed little in pair of maidens at 2 but better on reappearance when staying on into fourth over 1m. That finish was fought out by outsiders and drop down to 7f may not be ideal.
Didn't have the run of the race when fourth over 1m in recent Navan maiden but that represented a step forward from sole juvenile run so more can be expected and looks one for the short list.
€6,000 yearling. Third foal. Half-brother to 7f winner Gunmaker and 1m winner Rabbit Win. Yard not normally associated with debut winners.
Stepped up on 6f debut when creditable sixth of 12 in 1m Cork maiden last time. More to come though down a furlong today.
Has shown little in three maidens over 7f and 1m and likely to do better when handicapping further down the line.
Similar level of form in two maidens at 1m but gave impression last time the drop down in trip here may help. Only a head behind Clockers Corner that day so clearly has form claims.
Clearly improved for the switch to good ground when leaving debut form behind when third in Cork maiden on second start. The runner-up that day has since won so commands respect here.
Just €1,200 as a two-year-old. First foal of a dam who won over 7f. Worth a cautionary look in betting.
Some ability in maidens at 2 but eased down when finishing last of 18 on handicap debut recently. Better than that but does have something to prove for now although this looks a weak contest.
Forecasts
The Mpex Kid (5/1), Memsie (11/2), Tracing (11/2), Split Down South (6/1), Candy Man (6/1), Zaamar (8/1), Clockers Corner (8/1), Myth Creation (10/1), Rule The Sea (25/1), Chico One (50/1), Balletto (66/1), Enda The Dragon (66/1)
In all probability a weak maiden for the track and it gives THE MPEX KID a chance to get off the mark at the third time of asking. There is little to choose between Split Down South and Clockers Corner from Navan last time and they may be the pair to follow the selection home.
- The Mpex Kid
- Split Down South
- Clockers Corner
