Had gone a long time between drinks prior to recent 6f soft-ground success at Pontefract. Made all and came nicely away to win there, has gone up 5lb for AW return and is former course winner.

Decent effort in finishing fifth in a 15-runner C&D handicap in April. Has won over C&D in the past and interesting to see how he fares after being given short break.

10-year-old with 5-36 career record, bounced back to form when close second over a mile at Lingfield last week. Races from unchanged mark and drop in trip is fine. Interesting.

Not at his best in three runs for current trainer, although did shape slightly better over 1m at Yarmouth last time. Jockey booking is encouraging and worth market check now.

Has struggled in four starts since finishing runner-up over 1m here in February. Needs to return to form to figure on this occasion.

Dandy Man filly, quickly left Archie Watson after pair of unimpressive AW starts and was no threat on bow for this yard in Leicester maiden (7f, good to firm; 100-1). Handicap debut.

1-19 strike rate on AW, has placed a couple of times around here (7f/1m) already this year but likely settles for similar role at best and not the most dependable.

Dark Angel filly, hasn't beaten much home in three qualifying runs at Kempton and Wolverhampton; goes handicapping with plenty improvement to find.

Still a maiden after 13 starts and is clearly moderate, reared in the starting stalls here last time out and was slowly and never a factor.

Winner at Wolverhampton in February made it nine wins on the AW but has struggled most since including over this C&D last month. Others hold more appeal.

Mixed form in seven-race career, though can lay claim to 7f win at Newcastle in the spring (rated 45). Appeared to improve for wind operation with fair run on heavy going at Yarmouth last week, may do better here.

Showed little as a two-year-old - best effort came over an extended seven furlongs at Wolverhampton - and showed even less on her seasonal reappearance at this track over 1m2f last month (sent off 66-1). Drop in trip a positive.

Unimpressive on the AW in three winter runs and no progress since switching to handicaps on turf lately. First-time visor will need to have a dramatic effect to be a player.

Verdict

Captain Dion made every yard to win at Pontefract last week when well backed and is likely to have a leading say here, at a course where he has won before, from 5lb higher. Notwithstanding his claims, there might be some value in SIMBA SAMBA who shaped with purpose on heavy going at Yarmouth after a wind operation and should be more at home under these conditions. Mezmaar and Kafoo are also on the shortlist.
