200,000 gns half-brother to very smart 5½f-7f winner My Catch and useful 2-y-o 6f/7f winner Vladimir. Yard tends to unleash its better juveniles here, and one for the shortlist.

Not disgraced on debut at Thirsk in April, but failed to build on that at Beverley next time, and looks one for nurseries after another outing.

Horse silk
10/1
Night of Thunder colt out of a useful 2-y-o 6½f/7f winner. Cost 80,000 gns, and makes some appeal, for all yard's newcomers usually need experience.

(2)
Horse silk
9/2
Shamardal colt who is a half-brother to a couple of winners in France. Needed the experience, but shaped well when fourth of 8 to Maxi Boy at Yarmouth on debut, and looks sure to improve.
First foal of a 1½m winner, and while yard can get winners on debut, this son of Havana Gold is likely to need a stiffer test than this.

Horse silk
12/1
Kyllachy half-brother to smart 7f-1m winner Lincoln Rocks. Shaped quite well when fifth of 8 to War Storm over C&D on debut, and looks sure to progress, for all improvement is required.

Horse silk
20/1
Coach House half-brother to 6f winner Koharu, and pedigree suggests he will handle ease, but already gelded, and cost just 6,000 gns, so not as appealing on paper as some.

Oso Rapido12

4/1
Beaten 7L when runner-up on debut at Ripon, and ran better when 1½L third of 10 to Toro Strike at Thirsk last time. Every chance in form terms, and should improve further as he gains experience.
10
(6)
Horse silk
33/1
Gelded son of Harbour Watch who needed early reminders and looked a bit wayward when sixth of 10 on debut at Thirsk. Behind Oso Rapido there, and has work to do to reverse form.
11
(12)
Horse silk
50/1
Full-brother to useful 5f-7½f winner Sandbetweenourtoes and half-brother to 7f winner Doricemay. Yard 0-61 with 2-y-o newcomers in recent years, however.
12
(13)
Horse silk
11/2
Cable Bay colt who cost 90,000 gns as a yearling and is a half-brother to three winners in France. A place and 1½L behind Historic on debut at Yarmouth, but shaped well, is sure to improve and needs respect.
Has more experience than any of these, and produced his best effort when 4L second of 15 to Coase in novice at Carlisle last time. Place claims on that, but vulnerable to improvers.

(4)
Horse silk
14/1
Exceed And Excel half-sister to 1¼m winner Ecureuil and closely related to useful 7f/7½f winner Starlight Romance. Yard a modest 4-51 with newcomers here in recent years, but merits a market check.

Forecasts

Black Caspian (11/4), Oso Rapido (4/1), Historic (9/2), St Ives (11/2), Godfather (10/1), International Lion (12/1), Vardon Flyer (14/1), Sun Crystal (14/1), Magical Max (20/1), Idoapologise (25/1), Cmon Cmon (25/1), Refuge (33/1), Singe Anglais (50/1), Red Jasper (66/1)

Verdict

HISTORIC and St Ives clashed at Yarmouth on debut, and both shaped with promise, with the former taken to confirm the form, while Oso Rapido has been placed on both starts and should be in the mix again. There are some interesting newcomers, however, and Black Caspian looks the pick of those on paper.
