Returns to the track to make his handicap debut. Major player if fit enough to do himself justice after showing himself to be a useful prospect when pulverising the talented Wedding Blue on final run last season.
One of a few in here who have a question mark surrounding them if the rain arrives. Needs to show some improvement from handicap debut in which he was fourth behind the smart Private Secretary over 1m2f at this track.
Everything looks in his favour, apart from the fact he has only ever raced on good to firm/AW. Jockey/trainer combo in great form, makes handicap debut off a fair mark and looks a smart sort. Should make successful transition to this sphere.
Notched first victory on turf when successful at Epsom (1m; good) last time. Has an inconsistent profile overall though and up 5lb for his Epsom win, he can't afford to have an off day again in a race as competitive as this.
Never raced on ground worse than good. Form of his latest effort when third at Doncaster (1m; good) brings him into this though and he runs off the same mark in this contest. Stable coming back into form.
Won on soft ground two starts ago at Haydock (1m; soft). However, he wasn't able to cope with the step up in class when only managing to finish fifth at this track last time out. Bit to prove now, but forecast conditions are in his favour.
Forecasts
New King (15/8), Pour Me A Drink (4/1), Mubariz (5/1), Cristal Breeze (5/1), Absolutio (15/2), Multamis (8/1)
This looks set to go the way of either Mubariz or CRISTAL BREEZE. The former will make his mark in this sphere and probably end up in Listed/Group company before the end of season. However, this won't be an easy task first time out in what are likely to be arduous conditions and race fitness is preferred in the shape of the latter who is 2-3 since making his racecourse debut in April, and whose yard are currently operating at a 30% strike-rate (13-44) over the last 14 days. The talented claimer Cieren Fallon offsets a handy 7lbs too. Absolutio can follow the front pairing home after making a solid enough start to his campaign, provided he copes with the conditions.
- Cristal Breeze
- Mubariz
- Absolutio
