Surprise winner on his second bumper start (with Fergal O'Brien) having flopped on debut (disappointing favourite). Now with a new yard and tongue-tied for the first time but does have a penalty to carry; form of his win not strong.

Stable are 2-25 with their bumper debutants since 2014 and 6-38 in this sphere overall in the last five seasons. Fourth foal; dam unraced great granddaughter of prolific sprinter I Don't Mind; interesting to see what the market predicts.

Cost €27,000 as a three-year-old; half-brother to fairly useful hurdler/chaser The Fresh Prince and fair hurdler/chaser Duke of Monmouth, dam 2½m hurdle winner; yard 1-18 with bumper newcomers since 2014.

Would be a rare bumper winner for a yard that are 1-46 with their runners in this sphere over the last five seasons. Achieved little on her debut in terms of form on her debut (refused to settle); will do better with time and distance.

From a yard in cracking form and with a 14% strike-rate in bumpers (14-101 last five seasons). Made favourite on her bumper debut over C&D (September 2018); beaten 7L but ran green trying to make all, winner has won twice over hurdles since.

Newcomer from a leading yard (have a 25% strike-rate with bumper debutantes since 2014); gets all the allowances as a four-year-old filly. Dam, lightly raced in bumpers, 1¾m-2¼m winner on Flat, half-sister to smart hurdler/chaser Henryville.

Forecast

Sorghatani (6/4), Winter Holiday (7/2), How's The Cricket (4/1), A Book Of Intrigue (11/2), Max The Brave (8/1), Havacuppa (16/1)

Verdict

A couple of those with form set a decent standard although Book Of Intrigue has to carry a penalty for his Huntingdon win last time out since when he has changed stables. The weight that he concedes here to the ladies in the race won’t make life easy for him as he attempts to follow up. Winter Holiday comes back from a break having run well on her debut over C&D with that form having been franked by the winner over hurdles but preference is for the Henderson newcomer SORGHATANI a well bred sort who gets weight from the entire field. Her trainer has a tremendous record with his bumper newcomers and she’s expected to go close to improving those statistics.
  1. Sorghatani
  2. Winter Holiday
  3. A Book Of Intrigue
