Underfoot conditions won't worry him (plenty of soft/heavy ground form); looks to be working his way back to winning ways (slipped to last winning mark). Ran well at Ayr last time (without threatening principals); has to be respected.

Yet to win on turf but does operate on it (his three wins have all come on the AW); will appreciate the underfoot conditions after running respectably last time on quicker ground. 7lb below his last winning AW mark; chance to open his turf account.

On a long losing run but the type that this yard (not had him long) could bring back to life off what is a rapidly falling mark. Took a step back in the right direction when last seen at Hamilton; can hamper his chance by being slow away.

Soft ground is very much to his liking; found conditions in his favour when scoring at Haydock last time over 1m2f under a well-judged ride by today's pilot. Unpenalised for that win (1lb lower in fact); good opportunity to score again.

Returned to his former trainer for whom he had won off much higher marks he's attracted attention in the market (twice a non-runner). Finished a sound third on his only run back for the yard so far behind a well handicapped sort; of interest again.

Little soft/heavy ground form in her modest Flat profile (took little interest when last seen on the level) she does have two soft ground hurdles wins to her name. Form over hurdles of late is sound enough but more needed to make an impact.

Not seen since last year this lightly-raced sort for his age has little form to his name that would make him of interest here. Finished last on his only handicap foray so far in a lower grade that this over 7f (started 100-1); hard to see him involve

Fared better than she has of late in low-grade handicaps when dropped to selling company at Redcar last time over 7f. Still makes little appeal back in handicaps though despite that slight revival, most having more to promote them.

Produced very little of worth last season for this yard ending the year with an effort in selling company at Redcar that showed very little. Now returns from an absence having had wind surgery; hard to work up any enthusiasm for his chance.

A record of 0-24 on the Flat gives little encouragement with her most recent outing on heavy ground over C&D doing little more than to confirm the opinion she's of little account. Hard to see her breaking her maiden.

Motahassen (11/10), Mr Carbonator (9/2), Cliff Bay (5/1), Dutch Artist (6/1), Edgar Allan Poe (7/1), Spirit Of Sarwan (9/1), Millie The Minx (16/1), Prosecute (33/1), Quiet Moment (40/1), Bevsboy (50/1), Just Heather (66/1)

Verdict

The first division of this 1m1f handicap looks the stronger of the two and C&D winner MOTAHASSEN arrives in excellent form and unpenalised for his Haydock win under today’s rider with the added guarantee that he will handle conditions. Cliff Bay has to be of interest given how well he’s handicapped although his stable are rather quiet at the moment. Edgar Allan Poe and Spirit Of Sarwan are two others that look to be working their way back to form and enter the picture. The handicapper looks to have granted Mr Carbonator some clemency and this is one of his better chances to open his turf account having run creditably of late.
  1. Motahassen
  2. Cliff Bay
  3. Edgar Allan Poe
