Hit form back in October 2017 with a couple of wins but has struggled since then via a wind op and fared no better for it on his recent return. Mark now slipped 8lb below his last winning one but remains with questions to answer.

Still a maiden after eight hurdles starts with his two latest runs providing evidence that he could win a race of this type. Looks best suited by a strongly run race but his mark looks a stiff-enough one on balance; may find one too good again.

Thrived over hurdles/fences last year scoring a good ground hat-trick at up 2m4f before his form rather tailed away in two subsequent starts. Offered little when back from a break at Worcester last time; likely to be sharper for that run.

Took advantage of a favourable scenario when scoring at Catterick (mares' novice hurdle) over 2m earlier in the year but has been defeated twice since. Shaped as if needing the run last time (new headgear combination now); mark still looks testing.

Fair sort in bumpers despite not being able to win one she's twice run well switched to hurdles this year after undergoing a significant absence. Didn't quite live up to expectations when beaten an odds-on over 2m5f last time; now makes handicap bow.

Promise came to fruition when landing a handicap hurdle and chase win of the same mark (102) last July; the hurdles win coming over C&D. Ran with credit after that with the increased mark seemingly finding him out; needed the run on his return.

Chase winner at Uttoxeter towards the end of last year in a weak contest to which the handicapper may well have overreacted. A faller when last seen he now reverts to hurdles just 1lb above his last winning mark but with something to prove.

Won three novice events all in small fields in early 2017 but has produced very little of the same ilk in handicaps since then. Mark continues to fall (23lb below his original perch here) but with little sign of taking advantage.

Gained a well-deserved reward for some consistent efforts last summer when taking a C&D handicap off an 11lb lower mark. Looked unlucky when falling at the last over C&D on his follow up bid; not seen since and may need this.

Forecasts

Lookforarainbow (11/4), Jane Lamb (11/4), Scotsbrook Night (4/1), Foxy Act (6/1), G'day Aussie (8/1), Bobble Emerald (16/1), King Alfonso (16/1), Lassana Angel (33/1), Omega Springs (40/1)

Verdict

A fairly open affair and whilst nothing in the field has outstanding credentials there are one or two that deserve to win a race like this and have the ability to do so. JANE LAMB has yet to score but comes from the Skelton yard which again looks set to make hay over the summer; she can be forgiven an odds-on defeat last time with the trip looking a little too far. Lookforarainbow has the lustre of a luckless sort who just needs things to drop his way for an initial success while G’Day Aussie has claims also. Scotsbrook Night would be the most deserving winner having shown his best form over C&D and would have two victories here were it not for tipping up at the final flight when last seen.
  1. Jane Lamb
  2. Lookforarainbow
  3. Scotsbrook Night
