Well beaten on both of his recent starts for this trainer (2m-2m4f), and is dropping sharply down the handicap as a result.
Veteran who has failed to complete on two of his three starts (chases) for this trainer, albeit was in the shake up for a place when unseating his rider two out at Ffos Las (2m, good) 24 days ago; switches back to hurdles.
C&D winner (December 2015) who has finished runner up on his last three visits to Uttoxeter - beaten just under 2L by Mercer's Troop in February; the forecast rain isn't a concern; should be involved in the finish.
Now rated 8lb lower than when winning for Colin Tizzard at Newton Abbot (2m1f, good) in May 2018; sold for £5,000 in March 2019; started slowly and made mistakes on recent stable debut (Ludlow).
Irish raider; a ten race hurdles maiden who finished a never nearer 9½L fourth to Glendaars Warrior at Down Royal (2m+, good) last month; 8lb lower than when last visiting England in September 2018 (Stratford); chance.
AW specialist who took a Class 6 handicap at Wolverhampton (1m+) with a degree of ease in February; hasn't competed over hurdles since August 2014 (0-5); market a helpful guide.
Ran by far her best race over hurdles when beaten just ½L by Lace Bonnet in a 2m mares' handicap hurdle at Warwick in April (40/1); beaten miles on the AW since; risky proposition.
Seven-race maiden with form figures of P,O,P since returning from a ten month absence at Ffos Las in February; the drop in trip and application of cheekpieces are the only possible reasons for any kind of improvement being forthcoming.
0-15 over hurdles and competing from 2lb outside of the handicap proper; beaten 17½L when finishing sixth of 11 to Wenceslaus over C&D (good) in November 2018.
14-race maiden who is yet to remotely threaten to trouble the judge over obstacles; clearly not the solution from 7lb wrong.
Forecasts
Catchin Time (7/2), Pretty Little Liar (4/1), Infiniti (6/1), Unsafe Conduct (6/1), He Is Rosy (6/1), Tingo In The Tale (15/2), Patsio (10/1), Naasik (12/1), Our Manekineko (12/1), American Craftsman (25/1)
A frankly dismal opener in which it's extremely difficult to envisage the vast majority of those declared winning a race. The Irish mare Pretty Little Liar offered something positive to work with at Down Royal (fourth) last month and won't be making the journey over to England simply to make up the numbers. However, the preferred choice is the veteran CATCHIN TIME who appears to possess somewhat of an affinity with Uttoxeter and won't find many more suitable winning opportunities than this during the remainder of his racing career.
- Catchin Time
- Pretty Little Liar
- Unsafe Conduct
