Won twice for Paul Nicholls including a Grade One Juvenile hurdle but both came in 2015. Off 1026 days after before debuting for this yard and pulling up twice. Now has question marks aplenty.
Won three times last summer including a C&D handicap off a mark 5lb lower than this. 4L fourth of 13 latest over 2m2½f here a nice summer pipe-opener and with that under her belt a bold bid is now expected.
17L third to Passing Call here last summer before pulling up next. Two races since come on the Flat but been pretty moderate so others appeal more.
Useful five-time Flat scorer got off the mark in pretty impressive fashion latest in a 2m Huntingdon novice handicap. Upped 11lb for that so life gets tougher now but Flat form would suggest he should be capable off revised mark.
Still just won one (16 starts) over hurdles and that a Taunton maiden back in 2016 for Paul Nicholls. Handicap falls again after non-descript return at Warwick and although he is well treated at his best now he comes with risks attached.
Won three of his last six over hurdles and after winning at Fontwell in April (2m1½f) he narrowly failed there latest (2m3f). Upped a further 2lb but progressing nicely so looks sure to go close again.
Gained seventh course success here latest at 25/1 when landing a 2m2½f handicap. 8lb rise means his highest mark since early 2016 but course record suggests he should still make a bold bid.
66/1 winner off this mark at Wincanton last season been campaigned over hurdles, fences and on the Flat since including a 1m4f Southwell win in April. Not ruled out with this mark proven to be within range.
Forecasts
Panko (2/1), Passing Call (9/4), Tamarillo Grove (13/2), Thahab Ifraj (9/1), Magical Thomas (9/1), Volpone Jelois (12/1), Bleu Et Noir (20/1), All Yours (40/1)
Alan King's mare PASSING CALL really made hay last summer and she could again prove profitable this summer based on her pleasing return here last month so gets the vote in a competitive handicap. Progressive Magical Thomas seems to be a steady improver and rates among the biggest dangers. Panko took his hurdles form to a new level latest and could build on that now.
- Passing Call
- Magical Thomas
