Has been racing in better company off tougher marks since winning the Northumberland Plate consolation last summer. Yet to make the frame in four visits here though and trip is clearly on the short side.
Reserves his best for this venue but has looked in the handicapper's grip for a while. Stable are in form but others look more likely.
Triple AW winner who has looked a shade too high in the weights judged on recent evidence, although he will be happier here than at Epsom last time.
Won mile Newcastle novice stakes for Mark Johnston last term before landing 1m2f h'cap there in November for current yard. Shaped well in a good race at Chelmsford last time and commands respect for an in form yard.
Has a 10-54 record and was not disgraced off a career high mark last time. The run can be upgraded as the muddling pace did not help, but this is a tougher race.
Generally consistent sort whose best efforts have come on AW. Better weighted than on last AW start and now reunited with regular pilot having disappointed last time.
Landed two races from the front last season on turf/AW. Easily beat the useful Elegiac on latter occasion before blowing his chances by racing too freely on his season finale. Back from a break and looks stable's second string to Big Kitten.
Three-time Flat winner and rated 91 before leaving Andrew Balding to go hurdling in Ireland. Out of form when last seen and best watched on debut for new yard.
His two most recent victories have come around here. Has underperformed on last two starts and although his mark seems reasonable, he faces a stern test here.
4-10 on AW and 3-5 under today's booked rider. May have needed last month's comeback but possible the handicapper has his measure at present.
Allowed an easy lead when getting off the mark over C&D in March. Unlikely to have things all his own way here with Cosmelli in the lineup and he is taking on much better horses.
Romped home by 8L in a Chelmsford novice last term before two tame efforts prompted the fitting of a hood for an improved display at Redcar. Has been gelded during the winter and the fact he hasn't been sold suggests he is thought capable of better.
Forecasts
Desert Wind (9/2), Volcanic Sky (9/2), Big Kitten (5/1), Canford Heights (6/1), Al Kout (7/1), Envoy (10/1), Al Hamdany (12/1), Landue (14/1), Seafarer (20/1), Cosmelli (33/1), Torcello (33/1), Exceeding Power (50/1)
Plenty of possibilities here and the in form Haggas team are doubly represented by BIG KITTEN and Canford Heights. The latter looks sure to win races this year but riding arrangements suggest his fitter stable companion is the more strongly fancied. The selection was in need of his first run of the year but stepped up considerably in a better race last time and looks ready to strike here. Seafarer is a threat reverting to the AW and Volcanic Sky is worth a market check to see if a gelding operation has had the desired effect.
