By far and away the most unexposed in this race on handicap debut. Slight question mark regarding the trip (drops down from 1m to have his first crack at 5f). Most intriguing horse in the lineup.

Showed he is still in love with the game when running away with a Southwell handicap recently. Not as good on turf since, but that can be forgiven as he prefers the AW. Big chance on only his second visit to Gosforth Park.

Has never ran well at this track in the past for one who seems to enjoy the AW so much. Hasn't been able to cope with 6lb hike in the handicap, which came for his last win in November. 2lb below last winning mark now, but track doubts remain.

Makes AW debut. May have needed the run when tenth of eleven in a warm race on reappearance at Hamilton (5f; good to firm). This is less competitive, but he needs to have improved a good deal from that effort.

Not set the world alight in 2019 but two standout runs of the year have both came at this course. 2lb below last winning mark which came at this track in February and he could sneak a place.

Won over C&D when sent off 10/11F. Two lesser runs on turf since but return to this venue could spark a revival. Major chance if it does.

Enjoyed a purple patch at this track during the winter of 2017/18, winning three times. Hasn't done much lately but drops into an AW Class 6 for the first time since he won here in November 2017. 19lb below last winning mark.

21-race maiden who looks quite regressive. Sole run over this trip was at Bath when not disgraced in third. Hard to make any sort of a case for when in current form.

Has been largely out of form over the last twelve months. Comeback run was promising, but proved to be a false dawn as he failed to back that up with another flat run at Beverley.

Has won over course and distance an impressive five times in the past, but not tasted success for over a year now. Each-way squeak if replicating the form of her runner-up effort here two starts back.

Verdict

A tricky puzzle to solve in the finale, with PHANTASMAL a fascinating contender as he makes his handicap debut for Stuart Coltherd. He could improve a lot on what he showed in three maiden runs at the backend of last year and it is interesting he is dropped down to 5f for his first run of the season. We know a lot more about the likes of Decision Maker and Red Stripes. The return to the AW is firmly in their favour, but that is more so the case with the former who broke his maiden duck over C&D on his last run on the AW.
  1. Phantasmal
  2. Decision Maker
  3. Red Stripes
