Won here over the shorter trip of 2m4½f last month when just getting the better of Lord County by a neck in a tight finish. Up 4lb for latest success but still well treated on the basis of his mark in Ireland. Leading player again.
Made a return here last month after over two years off the track and he ran really well when third of six runners, 1¾L behind the winner Steel Wave. If he can build on his latest run, he will a good chance.
Won at Haydock (2m4f) in March 2018 but since then his form has been poor. Was last of six runners at Stratford on his latest start. Need to improve on what he has shown recently.
Bidding for a hat-trick of wins here after two successes at Wincanton recently, his latest being over 3m1f. Up 3lb for his most recent run but one to beat again here.
Came close to ending his long wait without a success on latest run here when second of seven runners over 3m5½f. Back down in trip and still looks to be off a very winnable mark. One to consider.
First outing of the season but he finished his campaign well last season as he was in the frame in all three of his last starts, the latter when third of 11 runners at Worcester (2m4f). May just need the run.
Was a winner at Southwell over this distance and current mark last year but since then has failed to follow it up. On his latest start he was fifth of seven runners at Hexham (3m). Needs to bounce back.
Won at Southwell (3m) last July but form this season so far has been poor as he has been pulled-up on his last two starts. Blinkers on for first time but hard to make a case for on recent evidence.
A veteran who has not shown his best form for a while now. His best success in his career has come at a much shorter trip. Difficult to make a case for.
Forecasts
Steel Wave (3/1), Chase The Wind (9/2), Master Sunrise (9/2), Gamain (5/1), Amber Gambler (7/1), Deputy Commander (8/1), Old Pride (10/1), Cornish Warrior (12/1), Spock (50/1)
Steel Wave and GARMAIN have both been in great form recently but it is the latter who is preferred to complete what will be a hat-trick of wins. The 3lb rise may not be enough to stop him continuing his hot streak. Deputy Commander was not far behind Steel Wave last time and he will ask questions of his rivals from the front again.
- Gamain
- Steel Wave
- Deputy Commander
