Has some good form in France on the Flat where he won three times for Alain de Royer Dupre, including over 1m7f at Longchamp last October. Interesting contender on British debut.

6/1
Was rated as high as 84 on the Flat where he won three times. Made his hurdles debut at Ffos Las (2m) last month where he finished second of seven runners which was a smart debut. Likely to build on his hurdles debut here. Strong contender.

Spider Flight gelding who cost €45,000 as a three-year-old. Dam was a bumper winner. Keep an eye for any market support on debut.

Won a bumper on debut under Rules in October 2017 at Galway (2m) . Disappointing last time at Newbury (2m) on second start over hurdles so needs to improve. Has had wind surgary since last start and first run for new yard. One to watch.

Was rated as high as 98 on the flat with Peter Chapple-Hyam and has now joined a leading NH stable. Market confidence is notable on first start over hurdles. Expect to go well.

100/1
Experienced runner on the flat where he won 6 of his 64 starts. Finished fifth of seven runners at Market Rasen (2m1½f) on his last start where he was a long way down the field. Hard to make a case for.

Winding Roe107
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-2| J: B S Hughes| T: D McCain Jnr
15/2
Was third of 12 runners on debut at Navan (2m) in a bumper. Switched stables since then. His breeding suggests he could be a useful chase in the future. One to watch.

Bempton Cliffsh153
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-13| J: Alan Johns| T: S Allwood
66/1
Long way down the field in his two bumper starts. Ran on the AW on the Flat on his latest start back in January where he was fifth of seven runners at Newcastle (1m2f). Difficult to fancy.
Been off the track for a while since his hurdles debut at Towcester (1m7½f) where he never troubled when finishing ninth of 14. Likely to need the run so others preferred.

Forecasts

Gunnery (13/8), Dounyapour (5/2), Dream Machine (6/1), Gallahers Cross (7/1), Winding Roe (15/2), Espinator (11/1), Luck Of The Legion (50/1), Bempton Cliffs (66/1), Poor Duke (100/1)

Verdict

This doesn't look the strongest of races so it could be a fantastic opportunity for GUNNERY to open his mark over hurdles at the first attempt. He was a smart operator on the Flat and if he can transfer some of that form to hurdles, he could take all the beating here from a big yard. Dream Machine should build on his second place finish at Ffos Las on his hurdles debut so expect him to be there at the finish again, while Dounyapour is an interesting runner on his British debut.
  1. Gunnery
  2. Dream Machine
  3. Dounyapour
