Two AW wins to his name this year his form on his latest two turf runs has failed to match that level (0-7 on turf overall). Stays 6f but all his best form is over 5f; temperament looks under suspicion of late; one to take care with.

14/1
Fair handicapper who landed two races off higher marks last year outside of selling company. Poorly drawn (low numbers) when running better than the bare result over 5f here (penultimate start); failed to build on that promise last time.

Three AW wins to his name so far this year at up to 7f; looked in good heart when returned to turf (Windsor) over today's trip on his penultimate outing. C&D winner, he did disappoint last time (in Guernsey) when odds-on favourite; could bounce back.

Fair maiden (0-16); one decent effort to his name so far when fifth in a Redcar handicap (6f) in April off a 5lb higher mark. Ran poorly last time (wore cheekpieces) over C&D (beaten by three of today's rivals); more miss than hit in his career.

Ran poorly after six months off over C&D last time (work to do with Someone Exciting especially); finished well behind. Last win came on soft ground at Redcar (6f) off a 1lb lower mar; needs to make a big step forward to make an impact.

Former decent handicapper; now looks to be on the downgrade having made little impression so far this year in four outings (promise once over 7f). Mark continues to fall as does his losing run which continues to grow; stable struggling for winners.

C&D winner just over a year ago off this same mark; continued in good heart for the majority of 2018 (without winning). Yet to find his form this year with all his three starts so far proving to be below-par; cheekpieces refitted, revival needed.

11/1
Lightly-raced maiden who showed some promise last year in handicaps off marks that were too exacting. Too free last time (back from seven months off; failed to get cover from wide draw); first try at sprinting having run at up to 1m.

Dropped into selling company last time (5f) and showed very little with just her one race (and debut) last year exhibiting any promise. Now makes her handicap debut back up to 6f under a promising apprentice; mark hardly looks lenient on form so far.

Age: 9|  Weight: 9-6| J: J Garritty| T: Mrs R Carr| OR:  54| D

Capable handicapper who won three times last year all over this trip off higher marks than he faces today. Well below form in his last three starts (one over a trip; 7f that was too far); favourably handicapped if able to find some form.

Generally kept busy last year winning a Redcar (0-55) handicap off this mark over 6f. Held her form well this year (so far) with three sound outings (one over C&D); would have leading claims if she can put another good run together.

Had three of today's rivals behind when taking advantage of a good mark at Redcar (6f, good/soft) last November. Two respectable efforts to his name this year (still needed run last time); enters calculations if not scuppered by the draw.

C&D winner in similar company last year returning to form from out of the blue; not disgraced on his only start this season on the AW. Has to overcome another significant absence (0-4 off breaks of this length); may need this outing.

Course winner over 7f in better company than this but on the downside his losing run is starting to get rather lengthy now. Failed to impress in two AW starts this year; may find this one the sharp side - 0-15 at sprint trips in his career.

Scored twice over 6f at Catterick last year the second of those wins coming in selling grade but failed to make much of an impact subsequently. Returns to the fray for the first time this year looking to find some form again; best watched for now.

Forecasts

Someone Exciting (5/1), Searanger (11/2), Cupid's Arrow (13/2), Ninjago (7/1), Brockey Rise (10/1), Coastal Drive (11/1), Billy Wedge (11/1), Gift In Time (12/1), Jacob's Pillow (14/1), Vallarta (14/1), Gilmer (16/1), Parion (16/1), Spirit Power (20/1), Dark Confidant (28/1), Ad Vitam (33/1), Nifty Niece (50/1)

Verdict

Plenty of these have profiles which are less that sound and with the vagaries of the draw thrown in at Thirsk this makes for less than appetising betting heat. Cupid’s Arrow would have to be in the mix if stall 1 doesn’t hamper his aspirations with former C&D winner Brockey Rise another under consideration although a low draw does leave some doubts. Searanger needs to find some form but is nicely weighted if he does with Vallarta another who holds a similar profile. SOMEONE EXCITING has shown enough this year to expect a forward showing this year with a draw in stall 13 not expected to be a hindrance. Jacob’s Pillow another to take note of if he can repeat his recent performance over C&D.
  1. Someone Exciting
  2. Cupid's Arrow
  3. Jacob's Pillow
