8/1
Appeared set for placed effort behind sadly-missed Sir Erec at Christmas around Leopardstown on third hurdles start and ran another face in decent juvenile contest at Market Rasen (2m½f, good to soft; 9-4) in February. Should be in the mix.

Modest on the Flat, gaining 1m4f Hamilton success last summer from eight starts in that sphere. Midfield on hurdles bow at Tipperary (2m, good; 25-1) 10 days ago, must improve significantly.
3
Horse silk
10/3
Big run here in first-time blinkers last month, finishing 7L second of 13 over 2m3½f (good; 9-2) having pulled clear of the remainder. Slight drop in distance, headgear retained and interesting contender now.
4
Horse silk

Has looked fairly moderate in points and over hurdles so far, including when nearly 20L eighth of nine in 2m6f good-ground maiden hurdle at Downpatrick last month having gone off 100-1 chance.

Unfancied for recent debut at Punchestown in a bumper, going off 33-1 and finishing in midfield, beaten 27L. Switches to hurdles and likely has similar aspirations for now.

Plenty of stamina in pedigree, not that he got a chance to show that on debut when brought down at the second in a 2m4f good-ground Clonmel maiden hurdle last month. Was only 14-1 in the betting there, so worth a look this time.

Horse silk
50/1
Without success in six point-to-point starts, though has hit the frame on a couple of occasions. Unlikely to be shaking up the market on rules bow.

100/1
Pulled up in sole point-to-point start and in trouble a long way out on rules bow last month in 2m Tramore maiden on good ground (sent off 50-1); looks unlikely to play forward role now.

Couple of runs this spring already in this sphere at Navan and Cork, well beaten in both and left with work to do in the jumping department; plenty time and in good hands.

4/5
Ran well three times in this sphere back in November/December, twice finishing second at Gowran Park (2m, good) and Cork (2m, soft to heavy). Fit from the Flat and entitled to have a big say.
12
Horse silk
50/1
Tried as a sprinter on the Flat last year to little effect; back from a break to commence hurdles career at Cork (2m, good to yielding; 100-1) last month and finished midfield under hold-up ride. Plenty more called for.

50/1
US dirt-bred gelding with a speedy pedigree. Unlikely credentials for a hurdling career particularly over this trip.

Winner of one of her 14 career starts on the Flat, she made too many jumping errors here on hurdles bow over 2m3½f (good) last month but stuck to the task (beaten 18¾L) to finish fifth of 18. May have a future.

Mare was a but unruly at the start before unseating rider at the first on debut at Tipperary last month, though she banished that memory when making the frame here over 2m3½f at 100-1 since. More needed for the win.
Pulled up first two starts over timber and all bar when detached last time at Ballinrobe (2m4ff, good; 100-1). Hard to see where the improvement will come from here.

Doyen mare, never a threat in two starts in point-to-points so far. Unappealing now going under rules (Second Reserve).

Verdict

UNION GAP has knocked on the door several times in this sphere back in the winter and comes here race-fit after a couple of spins on the level. He could be hard to hold and can get on the board for Noel Meade. Cats For Cash put up a much-improved effort here 16 days ago in second spot (clear of the rest) and goes on the shortlist alongside Bachelor, who has already shaped with purpose in good company over timber. Miss Louise was let down by the jumping here last time but plugged on and will do better once the technique is improved.

  3. Bachelor
