Produced very little in the way of encouragement in three dour maiden hurdle efforts since April. First time cheekpieces unlikely to bring about the required amount of improvement needed to play a role here.
Gelding by Getaway out of a Milan mare. Well held in three career starts over hurdles and overall record casts doubt on his ability to get competitive here.
Gelding by Muhtathir out of a Barathea mare. Well held in three below par efforts in bumpers before a 23L defeat over 2m4f on hurdling debut at Wexford last month. Capable of improvement.
Experienced hurdler of five starts but yet to hit the frame on any occasion. Good chance handicaps will suit on the back of this.
Hit the frame in a 20-runner handicap hurdle at Punchestown in January, the Oscar gelding only place position in seven starts over timber. Chasing recently and market likely to be the best guide on return to hurdles here.
The hints of promise in a number of bumper starts has evaporated following a couple of maiden hurdle spins in recent months. Expected to improve sooner rather than later and demands respect.
Career best on latest start in a Killarney handicap hurdle over 2m4f when last seen in July. Possibilities of going well fresh but has plenty of danger attached.
Well held in three bumpers since November but showed plenty of promise on hurdling debut in a Limerick maiden over 2m3f when last seen in April. May have to settle for a minor role here.
Not much to shout about just yet following a couple of maiden hurdle starts last month including a 99L defeat at Tipperary. Others have more scope for improvement.
Ran well in defeat in one of his three bumper starts to date, finishing fifth of nine beaten 3¾L at Down Royal last month. Market likely to reveal expectations on hurdling introduction.
Forecasts
Star Of Oscar (2/1), Our Dark Horse (4/1), Tapenade (6/1), Farney Villa (6/1), Yaiza (8/1), Measured (12/1), Magistralis (14/1), Dromline (14/1), Clouncerna (20/1), Quarry Lil (33/1)
The trainer/jockey combination of Gordon Elliott and Davy Russell can land the spoils in this contest with the Scorpion gelding, TAPANADE. The five-year-old can get of the mark at the third time of asking for connections going up in trip with Farney Villa and Magistralis capable of improving from their previous runs.
- Tapenade
- Farney Villa
- Magistralis
