Won twice over hurdles last winter but didn't really achieve that much; pulled up on chasing debut on his return earlier this month and needs to up his game considerably.

Third of nine on chase debut at Ballinrobe earlier this month but was just over 22l adrift of the winner (and was handed third by a faller near the finish). Improvement needed.

Reasonable effort on chase bow at Kilbeggan a fortnight ago and possible there's more to come. Has gone well over the hurdles course here so feasible to suggest he can be thereabouts with a more determined effort.

A maiden in point-to-points, bumpers, and hurdles; big improvement now required on chase debut.
Related to several decent types and has made good progress over hurdles so far. Comfortable winner over timber last time and likely there's more to come over fences. One to seriously consider.

Best effort to date when second over 2m (over hurdles) here earlier this month. Might do better now upped in trip and switches to fences. Another to bear in mind for a place at least if the fitting of tongue tie helps bring improvement.

Shown ability over hurdles and should have no issue with the trip, which gives the mare stronger claims than a few of the others> Another to monitor closely in the betting.
Four-time winner on the Flat but not had the same impact over jumps yet. Ran well when second on chase debut at Wexford last month and certainly going the right way. Stamina to prove here though.

Consistent hurdler at a modest level and also shown an aptitude over fences the last twice. Was well backed last time but faded near the finish. The betting can guide as to whether the step up in trip will suit.

Forecasts

Megalomaniac (5/4), Demi Plie (3/1), Licklighter (7/1), Thisonesforollie (7/1), Song Of The Sky (10/1), Knock On Steel (16/1), The Artful Roger (20/1), Fintown Boy (33/1), Love The Well (50/1)

Verdict

There was a lot to like about the chase debut from LICKLIGHTER a fortnight ago and he can represent good value to take things a step further this time. Megalomaniac is also an interesting contender now he races over fences for the first time and is another to seriously consider if he attracts strong support in the betting. Whereas The Artful Roger is bred to appreciate a good test and he too can play a part if he can raise his game now he's tried over fences. Thisonesforollie gets weight from the boys and will be a main beneficiary if any of the chasing debutantes fail to deliver.
  1. Licklighter
  2. Megalomaniac
  3. The Artful Roger
