PTP winner and already a dual winner under Rules taking a bumper and a hurdle (both on debut in those spheres). Form of his Ayr hurdles win nothing special but he's likely to progress and finished his race off well; carries a penalty here.

Has won a PTP but pulled up on his latest effort in that sphere and his form under Rules in general is underwhelming. Makes his debut for this yard but of very little interest on the evidence he's shown so far.
Pulled up in an Irish PTP and showed very little on his first two starts under Rules when with Olly Murphy. His move to his current yard has produced even less; readily brushed aside at Uttoxeter last time; same likely to happen here.
Well beaten in three bumpers (the first two for the late Ken Slack) before being beaten 72L on his third try in that sphere (first run for this yard). Made an inadequate and inauspicious start to his hurdles career last time (unseated rider first).

Fair stayer on the Flat although he did only win one race and also has his fair share of quirks and temperament. Well beaten on first start for this yard on the AW and now tries hurdling for the first time; doesn't look and ideal candidate.

Showed nothing in a Flat maiden (1m4f) when with Roger Fell before joining his current yard and finishing well beaten in two starts over hurdles. Needs this run for a mark; at least he'll be able to contest low-grade handicaps then.

Maiden hurdler in France (0-5); also 0-17 on the Flat in the same country who now makes his GB/stable debut. Not been seen over hurdles for a while but an interesting sort in a weak race for a more than capable yard; note a market move.
Showed his best form last time out off a 12 week break at Hexham over 2m having been given plenty to do and finishing well. Not been given a mark as yet (pulled up previous two hurdles starts); capable of a bigger performance; one to note.
Fair sort on the Flat for Ralph Beckett (won a 1m6f AW handicap; only beat two rivals); showed some much improved hurdles form last time at Perth (2m). Looked as though he would be suited by a stiffer test in the future over 2m4f plus.

Fair maiden on the Flat when trained in Ireland at up to 1m4f although she did look slightly regressive. Offered little when tried over hurdles on her debut in that sphere and for this yard; well behind Onthefrontfoot.

Forecasts

Onthefrontfoot (4/9), Gripper (7/2), Sixties Star (5/1), Maison D'Or (10/1), Phoebes Saga (20/1), She Got Fast (22/1), Captain Cook (33/1), Intermodal (33/1), Fast And Friendly (33/1), Karapiro Boy (50/1), De Good Man Luke (100/1)

Verdict

Not a race that will take much winning although there are one or two that may well be worth watching in the market and for future reference. ONTHEFRONTFOOT has already established himself as relatively useful and even carrying a penalty for his Ayr win he should be able to follow up here. Sixties Star caught the eye last time at Hexham and he’ll be interesting for handicaps once he obtains a mark while the same could be said about Gripper although he’s likely to need further to show his best. French import Maison D’Or is another who any positive market vibes for should be noted although he may just take a little time to get used to hurdling again.
  1. Onthefrontfoot
  2. Sixties Star
  3. Gripper
