Has had his chances off this mark and was a beaten favourite when runner-up at Kempton last time, despite running with credit. Should be thereabouts but may find one or two too good once again.

Magna Cartorp115
Age: 9|  Weight: 11-12| J: Sam Twiston-Davies| T: Dr R D P Newland| OR:  114| D
9/4
Won four times over 2m in Ireland in his time and took a step forward on second start for new yard when fair fourth last time at Warwick over a trip in excess of his best. Back at optimum distance and wears first-time cheekpieces.

Seems at his best over sharp 2m on a sound surface so wouldn't want any rain. Went close at Fakenham latest but this tougher track may find him out when push comes to shove.

Only win in 20 start under both codes came at Newton Abbot in October novice event. Bit disappointing in two handicaps after and returns here from second wind surgery in a year.

Yet to reach a place in five starts for top yard. Did show promise when fifth of 14 at Huntingdon in December but ran poorly both starts since. Handicap bow in moderate event so could improve with first time tongue-tie applied.

Prolific scorer who ended run of second places when scoring at Sedgefield last month. Raised 5lb but conditional rider claims that back so expected to be on the premises again if in similar mood.

Promise Of Peacet82
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-0| J: Lorcan Murtagh(3)| T: D McCain Jnr| OR:  102WS
18/1
Dual German Flat winner in 2017 and has placed twice from five attempts over hurdles for current yard. Returning now from wind surgery and wouldn't be out of it if that has worked off 5lb lower mark than last outing.

First Of Never33
Age: 13|  Weight: 10-0| J: W T Kennedy| T: Miss L C Siddall| OR:  88| D
20/1
Veteran who finally came good at age of 13 at Wetherby in February, then scored again at Sedgefield last time. Raised 8lb for latest comfortable win but this is tougher. Another good display not ruled out though.

Forecasts

Magna Cartor (9/4), Jacbequick (3/1), Green Or Black (11/2), Working Class (13/2), Lyndsays Lad (13/2), Collodi (10/1), Promise Of Peace (18/1), First Of Never (20/1)

Verdict

MAGNA CARTOR is set to take some stopping in the first time cheekpieces, dropping back to his optimum trip after showing much more when fourth in a similar event last time out. Both jockey and trainer and in good form. Old boy First Of Never has been a revealtion this year and may again be thereabouts, while top weight Jacbequick is not out of it either. The so far disappointing Lyndsays Lad might do a little better now going handicapping for his top yard. Collodi looks best of the rest.
  1. Magna Cartor

  3. Lyndsays Lad
