Hinted he was on the way back when third at Exeter penultimate start then won well last time at Newton Abbot. 9lb rise makes life tougher but is still fairly weighted on pick of his old form.

5/1

Inconsistent over last few seasons and has struggled most starts since last win at Doncaster in December 2017. Handicapper has relented and ran better (although beaten favourite) over 3m4f trip that stretched his stamina last time.

Exxaro^b,t¹²

11/4

Scored over C&D last June off this mark and ran with credit after long absence and wind surgery when third at Ffos Las last month. Likley to strip fitter for that and top yard always respected in these events.

Form: 32365-3

Gardiners Hill^t¹⁸

11/2

Won three times at around this trip in 2018 but was a little disappointing at Newton Abbot last time when he good to soft ground might have been against him. Eased 2lb and chance not dismissed on better surface.

Forecasts

You Say What (1/1), Blairs Cove (2/1), Exxaro (11/4), Hepijeu (4/1), Mustmeetalady (5/1), Gardiners Hill (11/2)

Although he has often reserved his best for Exeter, top weight YOU SAY WHAT won with plenty in hand there last time and despite a significant hike in the weights should give a bold sight once again. Hepijeu was a fortunate winner at Fakenham but had been in good form previously. He could be a danger although the handicapper may be catching up with him, while in-form Blairs Cove is respected but has to prove he stays this much longer trip as he bids for the three-timer. Mustmeetalady may well prove best of the rest.
