Useful hurdler (three-time course winner) who has shown an aptitude for fences (off the mark at Ludlow second start in this sphere). Spoilt his chance with a cataclysmic error last time at Sandown but remains with potential in this sphere.

Useful in handicaps over hurdles he was found a soft race at Cartmel when opening his chasing account on debut (main rival fell; won with a bit in hand). Failed to cope with a much tougher test last time (let down by jumping); bit to prove yet.

Taken really well to fences (winning point-to-pointer) jumping superbly from the front to make it 2-2 in this sphere at Exeter last time. Up a further 5lb for his last win but won with a bit in hand; should cope with the rise, more to some.

Looks the odd one out here with all his three rivals capable of making progress whereas it's been three years since he won a race. Hard to catch right as he record tells you and ran poorly at Huntingdon last time; makes little appeal.

Verdict

The dual Exeter scorer DARCY WARD gave little impression last time that his winning run was likely to end soon turning in another bold jumping front running performance and scoring with more in the locker than the 2L winning margin suggested. His style could well force his two main rivals Psychedelic Rock and Dieg Man into errors given that both need to jump better than their last outings. Both do have potential over fences though and if either or both get their act together they should be able to give the suggestion a decent test.

  3. Dieg Man
