12/1
Much-improved on third hurdles start when running out a tidy winner of 2m4f good-ground maiden at Wexford a year ago. Form held up, though not exactly thrown in going handicapping after a layoff. Should be fit enough for this trainer.

Clonmel bumper winner, made it sixth time lucky over timber when scoring over 2m5½f at Ballinrobe recently. Trainer in rich vein of form and entitled to respect after that improved showing given this isn't the deepest of races.

Sweet Home Chicago119
Age: 10|  Weight: 11-5| J: B J Cooper| T: C Bowe| OR:  118

10-years-old but still relatively low-mileage. Twice won over 3m in the autumn at Cork and Galway, though lost his way a bit afterwards. Just 3lb above winning-mark now, though record fresh isn't a strong one.

Bay Hillp22
Age: 8|  Weight: 11-2| J: Darragh O'Keeffe(7)| T: P Roche| OR:  115
9/4
Took 2m handicap hurdle at Listowel in September and won narrowly from Benny In Milan at Thurles in November. Goes on any ground and recent third of 24 at Punchestown on seasonal bow showed this trip isn't a worry. 3lb higher but respected no less.

Age: 7|  Weight: 11-1| J: Paul Townend| T: M Hourigan| OR:  114| D
6/1
Also scored at Listowel's Harvest Festival in September, winning 2m mares' handicap off a mark of 104. Just denied follow-up at Cork in November before tame run at Fairyhouse soon after. Off since, has proved reliable from short breaks in the past.

Age: 10|  Weight: 11-0| J: Katie O'Farrell(7)| T: D Duggan| OR:  113
16/1
10-year-old with 2-21 record over timber. Hasn't won since soft-ground Wexford handicap in October 2017 (rated 4lb lower) and last year's efforts were far from convincing on the whole. Handicapper slow to relent ahead of seasonal bow.

Benny In Milan22
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-11| J: A Ring| T: D Hogan| OR:  110| D
12/1
Successful Southwell raid over this trip in October was his second hurdles win, though now 2-23 all told. Closely matched with Bay Hill on November's Thurles run, though three outings this term have yielded very little.

Play The Partb119
Age: 8|  Weight: 10-9| J: C A Landers(5)| T: W M Roper| OR:  108
12/1
Decisive winner of a maiden hurdle at Wexford over 2m last July (made all). Tried to dominate in C&D handicap in October on next start, jumped slowly at times and faded. Out of luck since over fences. Back from a break now.

Broder21

5/1
Thurles winner over this trip on heavy ground in 2017, though winless since (seven runs). May have found 2m too sharp latest, though remains a feeling the handicapper has got him covered.

Sam Kingt198
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: Sean O'Keeffe(7)| T: T M Walsh| OR:  99
25/1
Just 1-28 in rules career, a very easy maiden hurdle win at Downpatrick (2m7f, good; 9-4f) back in 2016, the promise of which he has never fulfilled. Mostly out of form over fences last summer, doesn't boast a strong record fresh.

Forecasts

Bay Hill (9/4), Acronym (9/2), Broder (5/1), Humm Baby (6/1), Benny In Milan (12/1), Play The Part (12/1), Cut Em Down (12/1), Sweet Home Chicago (14/1), Antimatter (16/1), Sam King (25/1)

Verdict

A couple of interesting newcomers to handicapping for Gigginstown are of interest. Cut Em Down was a smart winner a year ago at Wexford but hasn't run since. Any money for him would be notable, despite his absence. Acronym on the other hand is race-fit and in winning form after his Ballinrobe success, while his trainer remains in a rich vein of form. They both must concede weight to BAY HILL, who comes here 3lb higher after a solid comeback in a better race at the Punchestown Festival. His experience might see him tough this out. Humm Baby is capable off a break and looks best of the rest.
  1. Bay Hill
  2. Acronym
  3. Cut Em Down
