Made all to score at Ludlow last year, but didn't improve on that when down the field behind the useful Pym at Kempton in January. Given a break since then. so could do better, but opening mark no gimme.
Took hurdles form to a new high when successful at Wincanton earlier in the month, up 4lb for that but still looks very well handicapped on his Falt form, and it's just a question of whether he'll stay this longer trip. The one to beat if he does.
Won a claiming hurdle here last October, and although no win since, there's been the odd good effort that gives him hope here. However, this trip raises questions, and on that alone, others make more appeal.
Rattled off a hat-trick of wins this spring and probable ran just as well when fifth at Kempton on latest start. Trip and ground fine but possibly handicapper about has him right now, so may need a spot more improvement to come out on top.
Looks the sort to improve with experience, so although there's a couple of disappointments on his record already, it's possible he'll leave them behind here. Step up in trip should suit and yard going okay, so holds chances.
Winner over this trip at Southwell last October but all backwards steps since then, and hard to find genuine excuses for him at present. Possible drop back to this trip may help, but has plenty to prove at present.
Form over hurdles so far a bit mixed, to say the least, but has looked worth a try at a trip like this on more than one occasion. Gets a weight allowance as a 4yo, which helps, and not out of a moderate event if finding a bit more.
Forecasts
Petite Jack (9/4), Northern Bound (7/2), Thibault (4/1), Malangen (6/1), The Groovy Hoovy (8/1), The Lincoln Lawyer (12/1), Lazarus (16/1)
If you could guarantee Petite Jack staying this trip, he'd be the natural pick as he comes here in form, and still looks on a very good mark based on his Flat exploits. But he might just find the last 400 yards stretching him, and on that, a chance is taken on THE LINCOLN LAWYER, who gets plenty of weight, blinkers for the first time, and has looked like this sort of trip might bring about a bit of improvement in him. Northern Bound and Thibault can scrap it out for the minor honours.
- The Lincoln Lawyer
- Petite Jack
- Thibault
