Not seen on turf since this time last year (eight runs on the AW since then); winner over 6f at Kempton in March (made all; showed a good attitude). Shaped well since then off slightly higher marks but may prove vulnerable at this trip.

Given a rare try on turf over C&D last time; produced a career-best looking very well suited by the surface and test of stamina. Only raised 3lb for that victory (looks lenient) and had to be a major player as he bids to follow up.

Lightly-raced sort (this will be just his fourth start) but failed to show his form last time when switched to turf and ridden in a positive manner. Now tongue-tie goes on for the first time entering handicaps; further progress is needed.

C&D winner who bounced back to his best on the AW in December (7f) taking advantage of a career-low mark. Only seen three times since then failing to fire in any of them; not seen to best effect (C&D) last time; others persuade more.

Course winner (6f) who so far this year has failed to show anything like his level of form following up a below-par effort with an even worse one last time. Needs to find some progress from somewhere but not one of the leading players in this.

Seems very at home around here with two course wins (one over C&D); well backed last time with the champion jockey taking over the ride. 3lb rise for that win is more than fair and has to enter calculations once more.

Both wins so far have come at 5f and he's still waiting to catch light for this stable (this will be his fourth run for them). Back below his last wining mark but then he was last time and followed a decent run with a below-par one.

Four course wins to her name (two over C&D) but she's back from another absence here and looked seriously out of sorts when last seen on the Tapeta at Newcastle. Others hold far stronger and more persuasive claims despite that course form.

Never run here before so has that point to prove but shaped really well back on turf at Windsor last time. Hampered on several occasions when challenging over 6f; return to this trip will suit, still looks unexposed at this distance; much respected.

Hooded for the first-time when going backwards from his reappearance last time over 7f on the AW at Kempton. Given another break since then and now switches to turf without the hood; 6lb out of the handicap, tough assignment.

Forecasts

Blessed To Empress (3/1), Barritus (4/1), Swissal (5/1), De Little Engine (5/1), Storm Melody (7/1), Sir Ottoman (9/1), Perfect Symphony (12/1), Andalusite (12/1), Ocean Temptress (16/1), Wilson (25/1), Mahna Mahna (66/1)

Verdict

Both last time out C&D winners De Little Engine and Blessed To Empress are worthy of consideration here as neither appear to have been harshly treated for their wins and look to have more to offer. STORM MELODY is given preference over that duo given his rather luckless fourth at Windsor recently over 6f and this return to 7f looks a good move as he still features off an attractive mark. Most of the others need to find some progress based on their latest form although both Sir Ottoman and the handicap newcomer Barritus can be given some sort of chance.
  1. Storm Melody
  2. De Little Engine
  3. Blessed To Empress
