Off the mark at his third attempt in point-to-points having fallen the time before winning by 8L. That would only be modest form though and he faces a stiff task making his Rules debut.
Plenty of experience in point-to-points and finally appears to have found some form in that sphere having won three of his last five starts including the last two by 3l each time. Form isn't particularly strong though and others make more appeal.

Winner of a similar event under point-to-point rules on debut back in December at Barbury Castle he was then the winner of a point-to-point bumper under Rules at Exeter. Enjoyed that test (strong through the line); has to be respected.
Won both his point-to-points (one a bumper) showing his versatility (won over 2m and 3m) when with Philip Rowley. Sold to this yard for £50,000 subsequently and given his connections makes plenty of appeal.
Took his only point-to-point at Bangor (PTP course) with ease by 15L although the opposition would have only been modest. Subsequently sold for £150,000 and based on that sum is clearly believed to have potential.
Won a point-to-point version of one of these at Bitterley when 4-5 favourite last month although that form doesn't look anything too special. Half-brother to useful hurdler Flemcara and likely to need a little further than this.

Cheekpieces are used for the first-time on this Irish challenger who had shown little in point-to-points before finishing alone last time. Stable have won this before so not totally discounted but would need to progress.
Her point-to-point bumper win at Bangor (PTP course) has at least been franked by the runner-up. That win came on soft ground so she'll have to prove herself on quicker ground but in good hands.

Narrowly beaten by one of her rivals here (Bird On A Wire) at Barbury in February (close third) she was behind another of today's rivals (Merchant House) on Rules debut. Looks a real stayer on the basis of her last run; may find this sharp enough.
Beaten a length in her only point-to-point over 2m4f at Barbury she now makes her Rules debut for a new yard. Hard to fashion much of a case for her on that one run and others mount more persuasive cases.
Winner of a 2m point-to-point bumper (Hereford PTP course) by 28L under today's pilot. On the face if it that form is impressive and she has to be respected on the face of that although it's worth is hard to gauge.

Forecasts

Garry Clermont (4/1), You Too Bonny Lass (9/2), Merchant House (5/1), Granny's Secret (13/2), Bird On The Wire (13/2), Quinta Do Mar (7/1), Dino Boy (12/1), Durouyn (12/1), Mount Nelly (14/1), Roseisaroseisarose (16/1), Tom O'Roughley (16/1), Eden Collonges (33/1)

Verdict

Plenty of guesswork required here with little sound form to go on although all four past winners were making their debuts under Rules. Given how much he cost Gerry Clermont is bound to attract some support especially with his connections more than capable of producing one first-time up in this sphere. Bird On The Wire is another who cost plenty and has gone to a good yard who are no strangers to bumper winners. Merchant House ought to be able to put his experience to good use along with Mount Nelly who he beat last time at Exeter. The wide-margin Hereford winner YOU TOO BONNY LASS is given the overall vote with Bryan Carver taking a valuable 5lb off, her 28L win was impressive.
  1. You Too Bonny Lass
  2. Garry Clermont
  3. Bird On The Wire
