Dual Group 1 winner who returned to form with some better efforts towards the end of last year, winning two Listed races and a Newmarket Group 2. May struggle to concede a penalty to this field for the latest success though.
Group 1 winner in France and generally very consistent sort. Not at his best on return at Newmarket and probably at his very best with a bit of cut in the ground but acts fine on this surface and expected to be doing all his best work in the finish.
Dual course winner but pure speedster and a first try at 6f isn't guaranteed to suit. Probably worth forgiving his effort last time when doing too much too soon at Newmarket and expected to try and make all but of more interest when dropped to 5f.
Wide margin C&D winner at this meeting last year and got his head back in front on AW recently at Kempton. Loves fast ground but looks a little out of his depth at this level.
Improved from debut to win over C&D and while he hasn't managed to get his head in front since, he produced a fair effort in Listed class at Doncaster in November. May come on for his return but likely vulnerable at this level.
Beat Major Jumbo in Listed company on return and won in Group 3 company on last year's seasonal reappearance. Less exposed than most and not disgraced when tried in Group 1 company last year; every chance there's more to come this season
Dual C&D winner; acquitted himself well at Pattern level in two starts this year, most recently when a good third in a Newmarket Group 3. Step back up in trip a potential source of improvement, though probably wants some rain to be seen at his
Has been in good form this year with two AW wins and a Newmarket handicap success. Has a tough ask back up in class here though.
Gained a first win since 2015 in a Group 3 at Ascot last season but he's hardly one to rely on, often shaping a little better than the bare result. Looks vulnerable at this level.
Group 3 winner at Newbury last season and returned with an excellent effort in defeat at Newmarket with Major Jumbo in behind. Did well to finish so close having run near to a strong pace and gets his optimum conditions on return here.
Forecasts
Invincible Army (7/2), Yafta (7/2), Limato (4/1), Brando (7/1), Major Jumbo (8/1), Projection (12/1), Hey Jonesy (14/1), George Bowen (16/1), El Astronaute (20/1), Ornate (66/1)
YAFTA put up something close to a career best on return at Newmarket last time out and with the possibility he could come on for that run, he could be hard to beat under his optimum conditions here. Brando is always worth respecting at this level and he was only just behind the selection last time out, though did benefit from being held up off a strong pace. Invincible Army can't be ruled out if he improves from his Listed success at Doncaster on return.
- Yafta
- Brando
