Last two wins have come in this class, albeit over fences. Those successes have seen him rise up the weights but he was a good fourth at Aintree off this mark. Rider had a winner on Tuesday and hard to rule out.
Just 2lb higher than when getting home by a short-head in this 12 months ago. Has had mixed luck over fences since, but in truth a 5-17 record disguises how hit and miss he can be.
Expensive purchase who made a good start to his career. Made a pleasing comeback in March and yard were in the middle of a downturn when disappointing at Cheltenham. Stable 4-16 in past two weeks and he could now make his presence felt.
Bounced back to form when landing a gamble at Fontwell on Boxing Day. Poor in better races since, but worth a check in the market with the trainer's horses running so well and the possibility of soft ground.
Worthy of a much higher mark than this based on the form of his Ascot defeat of Springtown Lake. An absence of two years raises the question of fitness and only the market can answer that.
The application of cheekpieces brought about an improved effort on latest start. An absence of two months raises some questions and possible he has been waiting for rain. Nicely weighted and the overnight forecast is favourable so one to note.
Dual hurdles winner who has been better since dropping to today's mark for last two outings. Enters calculations for in form yard but any rain would be detrimental.
Beat a 1/14 favourite at Southwell on last start two years ago. Returned from a 15 month break that day but asking a lot to produce a career best after his latest layoff.
Given time to recover from a splint and repaid patience with a convincing C&D victory a month ago. Up in class but remains nicely treated on his best form and likely there is more to come.
Forecasts
Potterman (11/4), Sternrubin (3/1), Comrade Conrad (5/1), Silver Kayf (8/1), Espoir De Teillee (9/1), Cultivator (11/1), Tales Of The Tweed (12/1), Sussex Ranger (16/1), Adman Sam (33/1)
A lot of these have questions to answer and a 50% chance of rain overnight could swing matters one way or another. Potterman would need it to remain dry, Silver Kayf's' connections will be hoping for a downpour, whilst Sternrubin ran a big race in the mud at Aintree and enters calculations. Last year's winner Cultivator will go close if on song as will his stable companion Tale Of The Tweed who returns from a layoff. Stable form prompts closer attention is paid to Espoir De Teillee, but COMRADE CONRAD exploited a good mark for a C&D victory and it is reported a physical problem was behind a loss of form. He looks a worthy selection given he has run well off higher marks in the past.
- Comrade Conrad
- Sternrubin
- Silver Kayf
