Made an excellent start to her career landing a 16-runner bumper at Wetherby late last year. Subsequent efforts in Listed/Grade 2 company have marked her up as a useful performer in this sphere; one to beat even under a penalty, stamina test to suit.
Point-to-point record is hardly an impressive one (fall last three starts) with the only completed outing coming in a bumper in that sphere. Tongue-tie now goes on first-time for Rules debut; outsider with little chance in this given the evidence.
Trainer has a 16% strike-rate with his bumper newcomers; this one is a half-sister to three winners including fair chaser Loughalder. Off the mark in point-to-points (second attempt) in March; had wind surgery, looks one of the stronger types.
Had a breathing operation prior to her debut and judged on her debut she looks the sort to need time and distance. Improved from her debut last time when second over C&D (no match for winner); again shaping as though a stamina test was needed.

From a shrewd yard although surprisingly they are only 1-29 with bumper newcomers. Half-sister to useful 2m-2m4f hurdle winner Indian Opera; worth a glance in the market despite the yard's record with newcomers.
Having shown little on her debut she suggested that there was some ability there when next seen after an 11 month break over C&D. Her pedigree suggests she will struggle in this discipline but could make a stayer over jumps.

Looked a little one-paced (not surprising considering her pedigree) when she made her debut at Carlisle although she did show some ability. Would need to make a big step forward to take a hand here though; others more persuasive.

Irish raider from a yard that have had GB bumper winners (2-4 last five years) who has displayed plenty of promise on both her outings so far (appeals on pedigree). Her form needs to take another step forward to take this; interesting contender.
22-107 (20%) are the numbers behind the yard's bumper newcomers and this sister to a fairly useful French hurdler/chaser It's Jennifer is one to note (has other winning relations). Looks the main danger to the favourite but may need the experience.

Forecasts

Shantewe (1/1), Simonsfleur (5/2), Martha My Dear (15/2), Lady Of Ardvar (10/1), Bright Side Oflife (12/1), Fair Minx (14/1), Our Promise (25/1), Lissen To The Lady (50/1), Bonny Houxty (100/1)

Verdict

Quite an interesting bumper to finish with two of the former winners of this event (only run as a mares’ event for past three years) appearing earlier on the card. The Wetherby debut winner SHANTEWE sets the standard and even with a penalty she has a leading chance here having been highly tried but run with credit in her last two starts. The Anthony Honeyball trained Martha My Dear is without doubt the most interesting newcomer and with the yard having a tremendous record in this sphere any market strength needs to be respected. Bright Side Of Life and Irish raider Simonsfleur add some depth the event with Fair Minx looking the best of those at bigger odds.
  1. Shantewe
