Back to something like his modest best of late although the way he travels in his races explains his career record of 0-32. Always likely to find one or two too good for him and that scenario is very much in play here back in maiden company.
One or two recent efforts put him in the firing line here mist notably his second on handicap debut over 2m4f at Newcastle (looked suited by the better ground). Let down by his hurdling last time (better needed); but this is a good opportunity.
Going into handicaps (wore first-time tongue-tie) saw him run his best race so far although he did have the run of the race. Had wind op since and now reverts to maiden company; dangerous if allowed a soft lead at this level.
Newcomer to timber having been seen twice in bumpers twice in March both at Carlisle. Went backwards from his debut on the second occasion and even a repetition of his debut (which was slightly better) isn't going to be good enough.
Both his bumper runs contained promise with the thought that he would be better given a stamina test over hurdles. Matched his bumper form first time over hurdles but up in trip ran poorly last time; early days yet and likely to need time.
Won her sole Irish point-to-point by a head but was subsequently sold for £100,000 to a yard who have plenty of bumper winners; her debut in that sphere full of encouragement. Up in trip for hurdles debut; should be more to come in this discipline.
Forecasts
Tara West (6/4), Eva's Oskar (5/2), Huntsmans Jog (9/2), Flemens Story (13/2), Dulce Panem (9/1), Harry The Potter (66/1)
Given her purchase price and the fact that connections are willing to travel a long way for her debut TARA WEST having shown promise in a modestly-run bumper over a trip that wouldn’t have brought the best out of her is taken to make a winning hurdling debut. She may not have things all her own way though as both Eva’s Oskar and Flemens Story have shown that they are more that capable of competing at this level. Huntsmans Jog is also respected despite a poor run last time he has a future at staying trips over obstacles.
- Tara West
- Eva's Oskar
- Flemens Story
