Scored his first win for three years at Plumpton in January hardly travelling well but grinding out a victory in a race where few performed. Has since run poorly twice looking laboured on both occasions; merely underlining his inconsistent nature.

His Irish record of 1-27 is hardly an appealing one but he does look to be a little more consistent since moving to this yard. Finished third at Stratford last time (would have been closer but for a bad mistake late on); solid claims in a poor race.

A winner on his chase debut early last year following up a hurdles win he's been a little disappointing since showing only flashes of that form. Far from encouraging here last time over 2m1f; too soon to write him off especially in such a weak heat.

Hard to make a case for him on any of his three starts since he's returned from a three year plus absence with all those runs coming over hurdles. Now goes chasing again but his form so far offers very shaky foundations to build any hopes on.

Finally off the mark under Rules at the 22nd attempt when scoring at Sedgefield from 5lb out of the handicap in a very weak contest. No surprise that he failed to follow up last time and has only minor claims here given his overall record.

Made the most of an overly-strong pace to score on his 56th career attempt over C&D last November. Continued his good form afterwards without winning before disappointing when last seen (raced well out of the weights); not totally out of this.

Had a couple of factors on his side when winning over 2m7f at Huntingdon last time (poor race/reduced mark) and he may have hit upon a similar contest here. Wouldn't want any significant rain though (best form on good ground); up 5lb in the weights.

Kilcaragh Boyh,t41
Age: 10|  Weight: 10-0| J: Philip Armson(7)| T: R J Armson| OR:  66

Returns to fences (first time since May 2017) having run one or two respectable races over hurdles but his overall form is more miss than hit. Career record reads 1-46 and that's enough to make him of limited interest here.

Forecasts

Misdflight (15/8), Minella Voucher (3/1), Arboretum (3/1), Scorpo (9/1), L'Es Fremantle (12/1), Very Live (14/1), Snowell (20/1), Kilcaragh Boy (25/1)

Verdict

A weak and unappealing race where the amount of headgear on display sounds its own alarm that this wouldn’t be a race to get too heavily involved with. MINELLA VOUCHER probably found the 2m1f trip too sharp last time and given his decent (in the context of this race) win on his chasing debut he’s the suggestion in a weak heat. Midsflight has struck a more consistent note of late reaching the frame in all three starts for the Murphy yard although dropping in trip he’ll need a positive ride. Arboretum isn’t discounted although he won’t want it too soft and if there was a real strong pace local hero L’Es Fremantle wouldn’t be out of this.
