Sprang a huge shock when beating sole rival over 2m at Ludlow last season. Looked in need of the run when pulled up at Cork last month and should be fitter now. Tongue-tie and blinkers added but more needed.
Chasing form has improved dramatically following two runs at Hexham in March winning on his latest start over 2m4f. In the mix with a clear round.
Dual winner in point-to-point company in 2016 and took a C&D hunter chase on soft ground in March of that year. Returns here from a long absence and although he's on a good mark. Highly likely to need this run.
Form has tailed off and has been given time to recover having broke blood vessels when last seen in January. Chance on his best form and market maybe best guide ahead of return.
Only six years old and has time on her side having only has four starts over fences so far. Both efforts this year have been poor though and that tempers enthusiasm somewhat.
Veteran now and has looked on the downgrade of late. Beaten a very long way at Kilbeggan two weeks ago and will need a dramatic return to form to win this.
Getting on for five years since the mare last won a race and is hard to fancy on her recent form. Well held in a point when last seen and much more required here.
Not disgraced in a number of starts over the larger obstacles, including finishing fifth of nine beaten 16L in a Downpatrick handicap chase last month. Slipping in the weights but still opposable.
Still a maiden under Rules despite veteran status. Out of sorts recently in a couple of starts since the turn of the year and this looks a tough task for the gallant gelding.
Without success in 16 handicap starts and has failed to finish in four of her last five contests since returning to action in December. Others more appealing on the balance of recent efforts.
Forecasts
Well Joey (13/8), Glacial Shadow (6/1), Maureen's Star (8/1), Goldmineinthesky (8/1), Canadian Steel (9/1), Hard Bought (10/1), Night Sir (10/1), Taboo (16/1), Cap'n (16/1), Nevada Rose (25/1)
This won't take much winning and the recent form of WELL JOEY means he must have sound claims of recording another win. The main challenge may come from Cap'n in the first-time blinkers/tongue tie combination. Any money for Glacial Shadow should be noted.
- Well Joey
- Cap'n
- Glacial Shadow
