Form in two bumpers separated by a break of 18 months was poor. Yet to beat a horse home having been switched to the Flat (AW) starting at 66-1 and 200-1; Fibresand debut but makes no appeal.

Go far back enough and he would have a chance on the pick of his form although none of it is particularly solid. Beaten a long way when last seen; new headgear combination now tried but makes little appeal even in a weak heat such as this.

Went very close to justifying strong market support in a Fakenham bumper in February (started 11-8 market leader). That form would be difficult to put in context here but he does have ability; found a weak contest for his Fibresand/Flat debut.

Very mixed pedigree but looks as though he's going to take the side of the staying element of his breeding judged on his only run so far over 1m2f at Newmarket last October. Very green (given a kind introduction); could do better on Fibresand debut.

Offered something to work on from his debut (is related to winners) despite starting at a big price (66-1); form has been franked by the next time out wins of the first two. Sets the standard here; open to improvement if taking to Fibresand.
Newcomer out of a maiden dam who stayed well (up to 1m6f); makes limited appeal on paper although the sire Sayif has a good record on Fibresand from a limited sample.

Trainer has started the Flat season well (has a 22% strike-rate here over the last five years; best of all the AW tracks). From a family that the yard knows well although the sire (Sinndar) has a poor record here (1-35); has to be respected though.
Looks the sort the yard like to bring along gradually with handicaps in mind and she's shown very little so far in two turf outings (started at big prices each time). Fibresand debut for her qualifying run and best watched on this occasion.

Forecasts

Itchingham Lofte (7/4), Hiroshima (3/1), Constraint (7/2), Trailboss (4/1), Roc Astrale (14/1), Soft Summer Rain (33/1), Can Can Nights (50/1), E Si Si Muove (100/1)

Verdict

A weak affair in truth with four having legitimate claims with ITCHINGHAM LOFTE the pick in form terms if he takes to this surface giving had the form of his fourth at Redcar on debut well and truly franked by the subsequent wins of the first and second. Hiroshima looks as though he’s going to be a stayer based on his one run so far and he may repay the kindness he was shown on that occasion. It would be foolish to leave anything trained by Andrew Balding out of the equation at the moment with his Constraint making her debut here although her sire does leave a doubt about this surface. Trailboss has ability taking his bumper run as a guide and he should be competitive also.
  1. Itchingham Lofte
  2. Hiroshima
  3. Constraint
