Promising type who won on his debut last year (his sole run) at 50-1, clearly not expected to be as forward as he was over 1m on the AW. Upped to 1m2f for his seasonal/turf debut he once again showed promise; sets the standard.

One of two runners for the yard in this he was well backed on his second run to score over 7f at Catterick after making an unpromising debut. Had the run of the race, now returns upped significantly in trip; open to further improvement.

Showed promise on both his starts last year improving from his debut when brought back to 7f (looked better suited by a speed test). Has since left his former yard; now makes his stable/seasonal debut; slight question mark over the trip.

Just had the one run so far and very much the second string for the yard who also have Eightsome Reel in the race. Upped 2f in trip from debut but is bred to need time and more distance; best watched here.

Unraced as a juvenile he only made his debut recently (has quite an appealing pedigree); made an encouraging start. Sure to know more with his debut run behind him; will do better in time but not written off in this.
Gives the trainer a good 1-2 punch in this but is the only runner lacking experience. Half-brother to a couple of 5f winners one of them a smart sort; dam closely related to 1000 Guineas winner Ghanaati; mixed pedigree, market may tell us more.

Verdict

Shock winner on his debut at 50-1 EIGHTSOME REEL was far from disgraced in better company last time out on his reappearance run at the Craven meeting recently finishing his race off in good style and he should be able to take this before going onto better events. Mark Johnston is always to be respected in events such as these and his two runners Sky Cross and Tanaawol are worth looking at although the latter may need the experience. Now with Simon Crisford it didn’t look as though Asad was screaming out for this trip while Sorting could have a part to play after showing ability in amongst the inexperience on his debut.
