Potentially smart sort having been placed in a Punchestown bumper before taking one at Kelso (sound surface suited) plus he made his experience pay. Subsequently sold for £95,000 to his current yard for which he now makes his debut under a penalty.

Placed in all three of his bumper starts so far (first two starts form has been franked); beaten favourite last time (still looked rough around the edges). Would have claims on his two earlier efforts for a stable that do well in bumpers.

Sold for £50,000 after finishing runner-up in an Irish point-to-point (beaten 8L); showed promise on only bumper start at Ffos Las (2m, soft), caught wide most of way. Beaten 25L he's capable of better in the future having gained experience.
Has an appealing pedigree (half-brother to dual bumper winner Malone Road); produced a good first effort (paid for big move into contention) at Down Royal. Ran to the same level next time, still learning his trade; capable of better.
Trainer has a 50% strike-rate with his bumper debutantes at the track (7-14) although they are having a poor meeting overall. €14,000 foal out of a dam who was a 1m7f Listed hurdles winner; would need positive vibes to support.
Local trainer but has a poor 1-38 strike-rate with bumper newcomers here (this one was a non-runner on proposed debut at Carlisle (unsuitable ground; good). Yard also not had a bumper winner this season; likely best watched.
Trainer not associated with bumper winners let alone debutante ones (0-10 with newcomers). Cost £18,000 as a three-year-old; half-brother to useful hurdle/chase winner Rindoon. Hard to see him making a winning start in this company.

Forecasts

Mam Trasna (5/4), Guy (10/3), Hello Bob (10/3), Shaws Bridge (9/2), Big Bad Bear (11/2), Cage Of Fear (14/1), High Renown (14/1), Mannochmore (33/1), Schiehallion Ridge (40/1)

Verdict

An open looking first division of the bumper with several of the runners having shown that they are capable of winning an event such as this with one that has already proved victorious Hello Bob having looked a potentially useful filly when winning at Musselburgh but she does have to play outside her own sex this time. The Crawford pair Shaws Bridge and High Renown are both respected with Harry Skelton an interesting booking for the former. Cage Of Fear is open to improvement (stable won this last year) and Big Bad Bear has to have claims on the majority of his form. Gordon Elliott’s MAM TRASNA is the choice having already taken a bumper and looking as though he can cope with a penalty.
