A 25/1 winner on second start over fences and produced his best effort since when returning to this grade at Bangor. He would have made the winner work harder but for a mistake at the last and there is scope for him to improve further.
Quirky sort who is hard to rely on and needs to dominate to be seen at his best. Barton Knoll may take him on so cheekpieces will need to produce positive results. Still above his last winning mark and others look more appealing.
Got hit with an 11lb rise for easily winning at Huntingdon of first go at this trip. The second and third have upheld the form since, but he has work to do to reverse recent placings with Barton Knoll.

20/1
Young horse who is getting the hang of things over fences. Back to his last winning mark after two heavy defeats over trips that stretched his stamina. Should do better back at 2m3f, but the step up to this grade requires him to raise his game.
Took what seemed an age to get off the mark over fences but did so with a polished display at Warwick in December off a 9lb lower mark. Produced a trio of mixed performances since, the best of which came over C&D.
Has been pulled up on two of his last three starts in Class 3s and was tailed off in the other. Flattered to get as close as he did last time and the winner has been beaten since.
Forecasts
Barton Knoll (5/4), Air De Rock (3/1), Triple Chief (5/1), Bestwork (7/1), Keep Moving (8/1), Lord County (20/1)
BARTON KNOLL has always looked the type to surpass his hurdling exploits (rated 122) when going chasing. So far he has only won a three-runner event a Doncaster when the favourite failed to complete, but he jumped well until a mistake at the last when runner-up at Bangor last time and he holds Air De Rock on that form. Bestwork is unlikely to get the uncontested he seems to need and a bigger threat may come from Warwick winner Keep Moving whose best effort since came here.
- Barton Knoll
- Air De Rock
- Keep Moving
