Veteran whose best form is over around this trip but with plenty of give in the ground. Heavy going is ideal. Fair third penultimate start over just 2m4f, staying on well, but pulled up when favourite at Haydock last time.

Scored over 3m at Musselburgh at Towcester last year and was fair second at Carlisle on his seasonal reappearance. Not seen since well beaten in hevay ground there in December and should appreciate this better surface.

Stayed on to score at Uttoxeter in October on seasonal reappearance but very patchy since, pulling up in three of five subsequent starts. Tailed off in Warwick handicap hurdle last time and has a bit to prove at present.

Taking a big step up in trip and stamina has to be taken on trust. Seemed to go well enough in first-time visor over three miles here last month when fair third off 2lb higher and arguably well weighted on best form if he stays.

Lightly raced since last win at Wetherby in May 2016 and has fallen a long way in the handicap. Interesting to see how he fares at this marathon trip with conditional rider claiming another 3lb.

Has won over 4m in heavy ground in the past so no stamina concerns and this veteran went close on his penultimatestart when just beaten over 3m at Musselburgh. Shouldn't be far away if reproducing something similar.

Only career success came on sole visit here when scoring in h'cap chase over 3m in August 2017. Not a certain stayer though and on evidence of last three starts has something to find running from 3lb out of the handicap.

Forecasts

Angels Antics (11/4), Packettotherafters (7/2), Chase The Wind (7/2), Lowanbehold (13/2), Another Frontier (8/1), Bob Ford (9/1), Mahler Lad (10/1)

Verdict

This 3m5f trip is going to find a few of these out and most of these have questions to answer. Veteran BOB FORD is taken to give away weight all round despite pulling up last time. He's fairly handicapped on the balance of his form. Angel Antics shouldn't be far away if he stays, having responded well to the headgear last time, and Lowanbehold may be keeping on when others have hoisted the while flag so enters calculations. Mahler Lad is another with claims and Chase The Wind can't be ruled out either.
  1. Bob Ford
  2. Angels Antics
  3. Chase The Wind
