A multiple PTP/Hunter Chase winner; took the 2m4f GX Landrover Open at Cheltenham by 6L in May 2018 (for Sheila Crow); ran well behind Shantou Flyer on seasonal reappearance at Kelso in February; in deep since; stablemate of Relax.
2016 Highland National winner (3m6f+, good); also beaten a head by the sadly ill-fated Creevytennant over C&D 12-months ago and a similar story at Kelso a few weeks later; always behind in the Cheltenham Foxhunters' on seasonal return.
Rated 140 when finishing runner up to Mr Mix at Wincanton (3m2f+, good) in October 2017; gradually working his way back to form in Hunter Chases, finishing 8½L third to Master Baker at Newbury (2m7f) recently - second has won since.
Progressive in late 2017 and throughout 2018 winning six-times for Peter Bowen, most latterly at Southwell (3m, good); tailed-off in an Ascot Grade 3 when last in competitive action; debut in a Hunter Chase for Mickey Bowen.
A welcome winner for this trainer when back to winning ways in the 3m Men's Open at Friars Haugh in late January; masses to find with Mr Mercurial on later Kelso form; yard slowly emerging from the doldrums (virus).
Stablemate of Mr Mercurial; seemingly on the downgrade at the age of 14; raced prominently until weakening from the second last when finishing over 9L fourth to Habbie Simpson at Tranwell (Morpeth) 18-days ago.
Forecasts
Double Whammy (9/4), Forgotten Gold (9/4), Play The Ace (3/1), Mr Mercurial (5/1), Relax (33/1), Purcell's Bridge (40/1)
A race which commemorates the Perth specialist Creevytennant. Play The Ace is the youngest of the six declared runners at the age of ten, and he could prove capable of making his mark in this company on debut for Mickey Bowen. Forgotten Gold is working slowly back to form, and his recent Newbury third to Master Baker has been franked by the runner-up Southfield Vic (Wincanton), whilst Double Whammy thrives on his visits to Scone Palace Park. However, the Northumberland-based art specialist Will Ramsay saddles a couple of runners, and we'll opt for MR MERCURIAL who ran well behind the classy Shantou Flyer at Kelso (2m7f) in February.
- Mr Mercurial
- Play The Ace
- Double Whammy
