Old Jeroboam26
Age: 5|  Weight: 11-9| J: Jordan Nailor(7)| T: C E Longsdon| D
2/1
Half-brother to a couple of winning jumpers, and cost €50,000 as a three-year-old. Ran on strongly to lead late on in a bumper at Wetherby last month. Did well in the circumstances, and looks sure to improve withe experience.
2
Horse silk
Olly The Brave
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: Bridget Andrews| T: D Skelton
15/2
By Black Sam Bellamy out of a 2¾m-3¼m hurdle/chase winner. Likely to need further in time, but yard's runners always to be respected at this level, and shortlisted.
3
Horse silk
Oro Rebeldet97
Age: 6|  Weight: 11-2| J: R Patrick(3)| T: G Hanmer
100/1
Soundly beaten in a trio of bumpers to date, and looks of little account.
4
Horse silk
Ebnal Explorerh1
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-11| J: Dave Crosse| T: G Hanmer
40/1
By Princess of Wales's Stakes winner Universal out of a half-sister to owner's Grand National fourth Gunner Welburn. Sure to need a stiffer test on breeding, and fitting of a hood raises slight temperament concerns.
5
Horse silk
Lord Roccoco21
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-11| J: Tom Midgley(10)| T: P A Kirby
16/1
Well beaten on first two starts in bumpers, and almost certainly flattered by proximity in a messy affair at Market Rasen last time.
6
Horse silk
Symphony Hall
Age: 4|  Weight: 10-11| J: Harry Bannister| T: W Greatrex
4/1
By Mahler out of an unraced half-sister to smart chaser Benvolio. Yard has a 27% strike-rate with bumper debutants, and that alone makes this €20,000 purchase of interest.
7
Horse silk
Celtic Tara
Age: 5|  Weight: 10-9| J: Fergus Gregory(5)| T: O Murphy
13/8
By Kayf Tara out of a bumper winner. Yard has a better than 30% strike-rate in bumpers, and this mare ticks plenty of the right boxes on racecourse bow.

Forecasts

Celtic Tara (13/8), Old Jeroboam (2/1), Symphony Hall (4/1), Olly The Brave (15/2), Misu Bula (14/1), Lord Roccoco (16/1), City Diva (25/1), Ebnal Explorer (40/1), Oro Rebelde (100/1)

Verdict

Some top yards represented in this bumper, and newcomers Symphony Hall and Celtic Tara are afforded maximum respect in the absence of market clues. Olly The Brave is another newcomer to note, but the vote goes to Wetherby winner OLD JEROBOAM, who did well to win given how the race panned out, and is open to considerable improvement.
  1. Old Jeroboam
  2. Celtic Tara
  3. Symphony Hall
