Son of Frankel who progressed on each of his first four starts culminating in a stylish handicap debut win at Beverley. Beaten favourite in strong handicaps next twice but looks the type to improve again this season and leading player down in grade.

Recent Chelmsford win made it a sixth success on the AW. Races off a 9lb lower mark returning to turf but has yet to convince in six starts in this sphere and others remain more convincing.

Galileo colt, cost €105,000 as a yearling and signed off last year with an improved Chelmsford win. Gelded ahead of season reappearance and likely plenty more to come off just 3lb higher.

Off the mark on start number nine when taking an AW novice in December when showing steady progress. Remains on a decent mark and physically looks the type improve with age.

Beaten favourite on his handicap and season debut and concern that is two runs below the level he showed on his first two starts. Not one to give up on yet though and possible step up in distance may help.

Forecasts

Hamlul (9/4), Monoxide (5/2), Mainsail Atlantic (3/1), Stealth Fighter (5/1), Nonios (8/1)

Verdict

Hard to know how this will shape tactically with a small field made up of lightly-raced types for some strong yards. For a trainer so adept at improving horses with age HAMLUL has been given a major chance down in class to kick off his season on a winning note. Monoxide and Mainsail Atlantic are also two who should be kept on the right side of this year and rate the main dangers.
  1. Hamlul
  2. Monoxide
  3. Mainsail Atlantic
