Dead-heated for a maiden hurdle at Punchestown (2m6f, good) last November and placed in handicap company subsequently. One to note on debut for new yard following a break.
Soft ground hurdles winner at Chepstow in February last year and finished a good second over an extended 2m5f at Wincanton (good) recently. Tongue tie added to the blinkers worn for the first time on that occasion.
Returning from a break when finishing 29L fourth in a 2m3f handicap hurdle at Taunton (good) earlier this month. Likely to have improved for the run and worth a check in the market.
Well held in a small field 2m2f handicap chase at Fontwell (soft) in February. Interesting to see how he fares on his return to hurdles having fallen early on in a handicap chase earlier this month.
Hasn't always convinced with his jumping including when a 15L tenth in an 11 runner handicap hurdle at Huntingdon (2m, good) in February. Shapes as if a step up in distance will suit and market support would be notable on return from a break.
C&D winner wore cheekpieces (absent here) for the first time when 8L fifth over an extended 2m at Taunton (soft) last time out. Decent fourth prior to that and races off a career low mark stepping up in distance.
Struggled in three starts since joining this stable including when beaten 63L at Uttoxeter (2m4f, good) three weeks ago.. Wears blinkers for the first time in this contest.
Four time hurdles winner including in this race on heavy ground 12 months ago. Races off a mark 13l lower than for that victory and would appreciate any overnight rain.
Forecasts
Champagne Champ (4/5), Oxwich Bay (9/2), Judge Earle (7/1), Knight Destroyer (9/1), Zen Master (12/1), Satoshi (12/1), Never Equalled (14/1), Sporting Boy (18/1)
SATOSHI showed decent form in Ireland and he can defy top weight to make a winning debut for this stable in what looks a competitive contest. Champagne Champ ran well when placed on his most recent outing and he can take second ahead of Knight Destroyer who should appreciate this extra distance.
- Satoshi
- Champagne Champ
- Knight Destroyer
