Three wins this winter at Wolverhampton at close to this trip and not disgraced off higher marks in last three outings. Eased 1lb since three-length fourth at Lingfield last time but a little more needed here.

Four victories on turf last season but handicapper had his say and found life tougher towards end of campaign. Beaten a very long way though when last of five on seasonal return and has to prove she has trained on.

Won 3-5 second half of last term including over C&D and starts this campaign off 6lb higher mark than final win at Wolverhampton in September. Could be more to come and is a likeable sort.

Outpaced inside distance over extended mile last time having won over a mile at Lingfield time before. Hasn't appeared to be crying out for extra two furlongs so jury out on stamina question.

Has given impression he probably stays this trip and was outpaced last two starts at a mile. Dropped 3lb since latest modest effort and more needed now if he's going to spring a surprise.

Landed 9f maiden for Hugo Palmer in 2017 but didn't seem to thrive during first season for current yard. Returns from long lay-off, eased 3lb, but may well improve for the outing.

Last three wins have all come over C&D and seems to reserve his best for this place. Fair effort at Doncaster latest suggests he's still in form so another good display cannot be ruled out.

Forecast

Shareef Star (7/4), Lexington Empire (15/8), The Night King (9/4), Michele Strogoff (4/1), Juanito Chico (8/1), Pheidippides (8/1), Juneau (14/1), Sea Tide (33/1)

Verdict

Although this is probably his toughest assignment so far, THE NIGHT KING goes so well at this track that a chance is taken he can make it a fourth C&D success off a mark just 3lb higher than his last victory. Beautifully bred Shareef Star is a potential improver and is very much feared, while Lexington Empire did nothing but improve last term and cannot be ruled out of contention.
