22,000gns yearling. Half-brother to two winners, out of a 2yo winner. Represents top connections, so merits a market check, but has a poor draw to contend with.
£16,000 yearling. Dam placed 1m½f-1m1½f, and closely related to useful 1m4f winner Coin Of The Realm. Nice enough pedigree, but poor draw and stable 0-4 with juveniles so far this season.
€13,000 yearling. First foal. Dam unplaced 6f at two, half-sister to 5f Group 3 winner Invincible Ash and prolific 5f-7f winner Rich Again. Represents good yard and has a decent draw here. Market check advised.
£10,000 yearling. Fifth foal. Half-brother to winners Hasselnot (1m, inc AW) and Timetodock (6f 2yo), out of 5f winner. Stable 1-2 with 2yos so far, so another for whom a market check looks prudent.
£11,000 yearling. Seventh foal. Brother to 7f AW winner Mia Cara, closely related to 1m 2yo winner Vita Mina. Dam 1m2f-1m4f winner. Stable 0-3 with 2yos so far, but one has made the frame. This probably of greater interest when upped in trip.
10-1 and weakened to be beaten 17L after racing prominently on debut at Doncaster last month. Cheekpieces now fitted, but much improvement needed.
Has shown promise in both runs, and despite being a beaten favourite at Lingfield (5f, AW) last time, he improved on his debut effort. Has a good draw here and that experience could prove invaluable.
€2,500 foal, €3,000 yearling. First foal. Dam 6f-1m2f winner (inc at 2/AW). From a good sprinting family. Stable 0-2 with 2yos so far, and perhaps best watched unless significant support for him on debut.
80-1 but showed promise on debut when keeping on well to be beaten just over 5L into fourth at Redcar (5f, good) recently. Can improve for that experience, and not badly drawn here, so no surprise if she is competitive.
€4,500 foal, €6,500 yearling. Sixth foal. Half-sister to winners Disko (5f 2yo), Consonance (7f) and King Philips (Italian 5f-1m inc at two). Dam unraced sister to 6f 2yo Group 3 winner Golden Legacy. Nice enough pedigree. Market check.
16-1 on debut at Kempton (5f, AW) earlier in the month, but surpassed those odds with a decent effort to beat all bar the easy winner, when 6L second. Can improve for that experience and has plumb draw here if she can take advantage.
Forecasts
Birkenhead (13/8), Bettys Hope (9/4), Birdie Bowers (6/1), Leave Em Alone (7/1), The Ginger Bullet (10/1), Chocoholic (20/1), Cock Robin (25/1), Sassy Lassy (33/1), Hell Of A Joker (50/1), Tonquin Valley (66/1), Hovingham (100/1)
A tough race to call, as these often are at this time of year. Those with positive experience certainly merit serious consideration, and particularly from a good draw, which means that Bettys Hope, Leave Em Alone and BIRKENHEAD are all short-listed, with the last-named getting the vote, as he sets the standard. As ever, keep an eye on the market, for there are several newcomers from good yards, such as The Ginger Bullet, Birdie Bowers and Chocoholic, who could all make their presence felt.
- Birkenhead
- Leave Em Alone
- Chocoholic
