Fair sort, won over this trip at Uttoxeter in the autumn and also ran well this C&D, possible stamina didn't hold out at Ludlow when last spotted but career-best needed to win from this mark.

November's success over 2m at Hereford came after placings were reversed in the stewards' room. Form tailed off in three starts after that. Tongue-tie added following short layoff.

Three good efforts in maiden/novice hurdles rewarded when scoring at Newcastle (2m½f, good to soft) a fortnight ago. Should be good enough to have a say on handicap debut.

Won a selling hurdle in 2017 but failed to build on that in the 2017/18 season. Never a threat at Wetherby (2m, good) in January off the back of a 444-day absence. Eased by the handicapper since.

Four-time hurdles winner, latest at Uttoxeter (2m, good; 9-4f) off a mark of 102 last summer. Twice runner-up in claiming/selling company since joining this yard, will have to pull out extra here.

Four-time Flat winner showed promise on hurdling introduction when close third in Newcastle maiden in January. Not really progressed in two runs since, but could find favourable starting point for handicaps now.

Has suffered wide-margin defeats all four starts since arriving from France, including twice over C&D. No improvement on handicap debut at Southwell (2m4½f, soft) last month and risky proposition again.

Forecasts

World Premier (7/4), Lucky Lover Boy (2/1), Ravenous (11/4), Third Estate (4/1), Dr Richard Kimble (10/1), Excellent Team (20/1), Lookforarainbow (20/1), Pershing (25/1), Captain Speaking (50/1)

Verdict

The participation of Ravenous must be in doubt after he had a spin around Nottingham in Listed Flat contest on Wednesday, though his chance would be clear if turning up and ready to roll. LUCKY LOVER BOY has taken nicely to hurdling and was off the mark last time at Newcastle, he should have sound claims on his handicap debut from this mark. Dr Richard Kimble is a potential improver also handicapping for the first time while Third Estate can make the frame.
